MAMA IN A STITCH

-

Jessica aka US blogger Mama in a Stitch told us: “Shortly after having my daughter, I wanted to find an artistic hobby to enjoy along with motherhood. I had loved sewing and painting, but they weren’t practical while trying to keep a baby happy! I soon realised that crochet could be done at any place and any time. It was a hobby where not only could I be creative, I could also make useful pieces for friends and family. It’s become the perfect artsy outlet for me and I’ve become totally obsessed!

Most of my inspiration comes from the outdoors here in Colorado. I’m drawn to earthy, neutral tones with natural looks.

I also find inspiration from magazines, trends online and even a day out shopping!

My favourite pieces have to be a few blankets that I’ve made as well as some sweaters. I love my Mod Heirloom Crochet Blanket that stays on the foot of my bed in soft grey and cream tones. My daughter also has a couple of blankets that are colourful and happy, so those are quite special too.

My biggest crochet triumph has been designing sweaters for various sizes. It’s so much fun to design pieces, but it’s quite a challenge for me to write the patterns and work on the maths. It’s time-consuming and I much prefer the creative side of crocheting.

I had a difficult time learning to crochet. First I tried to learn from a book, but that was too difficult for me, so I turned to watching online videos. The videos and tutorials saved me from giving up on yarn crafts forever!” Find Jessica online at www.mamainastitch.com or on Instagram as @mamainastitch
