TEACUP PINCUSHION

What a little sweet-tea! Hook up this cute pincushion for a quick crochet fix. The soft pastel colour palette and face means you’ll want this little friend next to you whenever you’re finishing off your next project – and she makes a perfect gift for any sewist friend, too. Adorbs.

NOTES

This pattern is worked using the amigurumi method. Work in a continuous spiral without closing off each round with a slip stitch. You may find it helpful to place a stitch marker in the first st of each round and move it up as you work.

CUP

Using 3mm hook and Light Blue Purple, make a magic loop.

Round 1 6dc into the loop. [6 sts]

Round 2 2dc in each st around.

[12 sts]

Round 3 (Dc in next st, 2dc in next st) 6 times. [18 sts]

Round 4 (Dc in next 2 sts, 2dc in next st) 6 times. [24 sts]

Round 5 (Dc in next 3 sts, 2dc in next st) 6 times. [30 sts]

Round 6 (Dc in next 4 sts, 2dc in next st) 6 times. [36 sts]

Round 7 (Dc in next 5 sts, 2dc in next st) 6 times. [42 sts]

Round 8 (Dc in next 6 sts, 2dc in next st) 6 times. [48 sts]

Round 9 (Dc in next 7 sts, 2dc in next st) 6 times. [54 sts]

Round 10 (Dc in next 8 sts, 2dc in next st) 6 times. [60 sts]

Round 11 Dc in each st around.

Rounds 12-27 Repeat Round 11, ending Round 27 with a ss.

Fasten off.

TEA

Using Beige, make a magic loop.

Rounds 1-10 Repeat Rounds 1-10 of Cup, ending Round 10 with a ss.

Fasten off. [60 sts]

JOIN CUP AND TEA PIECES

Lightly fill the Cup with stuffing, and continue to stuff as you join on the Tea. Using Peach, join yarn to Round 27 of the Cup and Round 10 of the Tea, working through both rounds at once.

Round 1 Dc in each st around the Cup and the Tea. [60 sts]

Round 2 Ss in each st around.

Fasten off.

HANDLE

Using Light Blue Purple, ch4, ss to first ch to form a ring.

Round 1 Dc in each ch around. [4 sts]

Rounds 2-13 Dc in each st around, ending Round 13 with a ss to first st to join.

Fasten off.

TEA BAG LABEL

Using Off White, make a magic loop.

Round 1 4dc into loop, place marker to mark end of round. [4 sts]

Round 2 3dc in each st around. [12 sts]

Round 3 Dc in next st, (3dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts) 3 times, 3dc in next st, dc in next st, ss to first st to join.

Fasten off leaving a long tail to sew in place. [20 sts]

TO MAKE UP

Using the yarn tail, sew the Tea Bag Label into place, just between the Tea and the rim at the front side of the Tea Cup. Using light pink stranded cotton, embroider a heart onto the Label, using the image as a guide. Sew the Handle in place just behind the Tea Bag Label, at Round 14 and Round 21 of the Cup.

Using black and light pink stranded cotton, embroider facial details (as shown, or to your own design) onto the front of Tea Cup, using chain stitch.
