■ DMC Petra Cotton Thread Size 5 (100% cotton, 100g/400m), 1 ball of each:

Yarn A Ecru

Yarn B Apple Green (5907)

Yarn C Mauve (5209),

Yarn D Blue (5797)

■ A 2mm (US 4 steel or B/1) hook

■ 8 jump rings

■ 1 clasp

■ 2 chains, each approx 8cm (3 in) long

■ 2 lever back earrings

■ Jewellery pliers

MEASUREMEN­TS

The Necklace measures 10x8cm (4x3 in) The Earrings measure 7x2.5cm (2 x1in)

NECKLACE

FLOWER MAKE 3

With Yarn A, ch4 and join with ss into first ch to form loop.

Round 1 (RS) (Ch4, ss into loop) 5 times.

Fasten off. [5 petals]

Round 2 Join Yarn C with ss in any ch-4 sp, (ch1, 3dc, ch1, ss) into same ch-4 sp, *(ss, ch1, 3dc, ch1, ss) in next ch-4 sp; repeat from * 3 times more. [15 dc] Fasten off and weave in ends.

BODY OF NECKLACE

Using Yarn B, ch5, ss to first ch to form loop.

Row 1 (WS) (Ch15, ss in fifth ch from hook) 5 times, turn.

Row 2 (RS) (Ss in next 10 ch, ss in next ch-5 loop) 5 times. Fasten off.

Row 3 (RS) Join Yarn A with ss in the fifth ch-5 made in Row 1, (ch12, ss in next ch-5 loop) 3 times, turn. [3 ch-12 sp]

Row 4 (WS) Ch1, (6dc, ch2, 6dc, ch2) in the next 2 ch-12 sps, (6dc, ch2, 6dc) in next ch-12 sp, ch1, ss to next ch-5 loop.

Fasten off. [36 dc, 2 ch-1 sp, 5 ch-2 sp]

Row 5 (WS) Join Yarn D with ss into first ch-5 loop at the beg of Row 4, ch1, (ss in back loop of next 6dc, (dc, ch2, dc) in next ch-2 sp) 5 times, ss in back loop of the next 6 dc, ch1, ss in ch-5 loop, turn. Fasten off. [36 ss, 2 ch-1 sp, 10 dc, 5 ch-2 sp]

Row 6 (WS) Join Yarn C with ss into the same ch-5 loop at beg Row 5, ch7, (dc in next ch-2 sp, ch7) 5 times, ss in next ch-5 loop, turn. [5 dc, 2 ch-1 sp, 6 ch-7 sp]

Row 7 (RS) Ch1, (9dc in next ch-7 sp, ss in next dc) 5 times, 9dc in next ch-7 sp, ch1, ss in ch-5. Fasten off. [54 dc]

TO MAKE UP

With Yarn D, attach each Flower to Row 1, using the image as a guide. Work 5 stitches through the centre of the Flower to each ss of Round 1, weave in ends.

Attach each length of chain to the first and last ch-5 loops at each end of the Necklace using the jump rings. Attach the clasp to the opposite end of each chain.

EARRINGS MAKE 2

Using Yarn B, ch4.

Round 1 (RS) 2tr in last ch from hook, ch15, ss to same ch, 6tr into same ch, ch4, ss in same ch, 3tr in same ch, ss to first st.

Fasten off, turn. [12 tr, ch-15 sp, ch-4 sp] The ch-15 sp marks the top of the Earring where the findings will be attached. Join Yarn A to the ch-4 sp from Round 1.

Round 2 (WS) Ch10, ss to ch-4 sp, turn. [ch-10 sp]

Round 3 (RS) Ch1, (9dc, ch2, 9dc, ch1) in ch-10 sp, ss to ch-4 sp.

Fasten off. [18 dc, 1 ch-2 sp]

Round 4 (RS) Join Yarn D with ss in ch-4 sp, ch1, ss in back loop of each of the next 9 dc, (dc, ch2, dc) in ch2 space, ss in back loop of each of the next 9 dc, ch1, ss to ch-4 sp.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing on the Flower. [18 ss, 2 dc, 1 ch-2 sp]

Round 5 (RS) Join Yarn C into ch-4 sp, ch11, dc in ch-2 sp, ch11, ss to ch-4 sp.

[2 ch-11 sps, 1 dc]

Fasten off and weave in all ends except
