HAT

Round 1 Fdc 68 times, ss to top of first fdc to join. [68 fdc]

Round 2 Ch3 (does not count as a st throughout), tr in each st around, ss to top of first tr to join. [68 tr]

Round 3 Ch3, FPtr in the first st, *BPtr in next st, FPtr in next st; repeat from * around, ss to top of first tr to join. [68 tr]

Rounds 4-5 Repeat Round 3.

Round 6 Ch1, *2dc in first st, dc in next 7 sts, 2dc in next st, dc in next 8 sts; repeat from * 3 more times, ss to top of first dc to join. [76 dc]

Round 7 Ch3, tr in first st, tr in each st around, ss to top of beg ch3 to join, ss into the back post of the first tr. [76 tr]

Round 8 Ch3, BPtr in next st and in each st around, ss to top of beg ch3 to join, ss in the back post of the first tr. [76 BPtr]

Rounds 9-11 Repeat Round 8.

Rounds 12-13 Repeat Round 7.

Rounds 14-17 Repeat Round 8. Repeat Rounds 12-17 once more.

Round 24 Ch3, tr in the first 11 sts, tr2tog, tr in the next 10 sts, tr2tog, (tr next 11 sts, tr2tog) twice, tr next 10 sts, tr2tog, tr next 11 sts, tr2tog, ss to tfirst st to join. [70 sts] Round 26 Ch3, tr in first 12 sts, tr2tog, *tr in next 12 sts, tr2tog; repeat from * 3 more times, ss to first st to join. [65 sts]

Fasten off, leaving a long tail (30cm) to close the top.

TO FINISH

Use the starting tail to close the first and last Fdc from Round 1. Weave the last tail around the top of the last round of sts to close and secure in place.

Wet block by washing the Hat with a gentle detergent and cold water. Rinse carefully and gently squeeze in a towel to remove excess water, pin out to shape and leaveto dry.
