■ DROPS Merino Extra Fine (100% wool, 50g/105m), 1 ball of each: Yarn A Off White (01), Yarn B Rose (33), Yarn C Red (11), Yarn D Light Greyish Green (15)

■ A 3.5mm (US E/4) hook

■ Heart-shaped wreath, 25cm (available from

Hobbycraft)

■ 50cm of ribbon, 3cm wide

Tension is not critical for this project, but it may affect the yarn quantities required

Banner measures 14x6cm (5 x2 in) Flowers measure 5cm (2in) in diameter

ABBREVIATI­ONS

puff st (Yrh, insert hook in st indicated, yrh and pull up loop to height of tr) 5 times, yrh and draw through all loops on hook

3-tr cl (3 treble cluster) (Yrh, insert hook into st and draw up a loop, yrh and pull through two loops) 3 times in same st, yrh and pull through all loops on hook surface crochet Position yarn on WS, insert hook through fabric from RS to WS, yrh and pull up a loop, *insert hook back through fabric moving in direction you want your surface crochet to travel, yrh and pull up a loop, yrh and pull through loop on hook; rep from * as required

WREATH

BANNER

Using Yarn A, ch13.

Row 1 Dc in second ch from hook and each ch across, turn. [12 sts]

Row 2 Ch1 (does not count as a st throughout), dc in each st to end, turn.

Rows 3-27 As Row 2.

Fasten off.

Using Yarn B, surface crochet ‘Be Mine’ over the Banner; you can use the image as a guide. Using the tails, tie the Banner onto the bottom left-hand side of the Wreath.

PUFF FLOWER MAKE 5

Make 3 using Yarn B and 2 using Yarn C. Leaving a 20cm long tail, make a magic loop.

Round 1 (RS) Ch1, 6dc into loop, ss to beg dc to join. [6 sts]

Round 2 (RS) (Ch3, puff st, ch3, ss) into each st around. [6 petals]

Fasten off and weave in final tail.

Leave the tail from the magic loop loose to attach to the Wreath.

CLUSTER FLOWER MAKE 4

Make 2 using Yarn B and 2 using Yarn C. Leaving a 20cm long tail, make a magic loop. Round 1 (RS) Ch1, 5dc into loop, ss to beg dc. [5 sts]

Round 2 (RS) *(Ch3, 3-tr cl, ch3, ss) into each st around. [5 petals]

Fasten off and weave in final tail.

Leave the tail from the magic loop loose to attach to the Wreath.

LEAF MAKE 5

Using Yarn D, ch11.

Row 1 (RS) Ss in third ch from hook, dc in next ch, htr in next ch, tr in next ch, 3-tr cl in next ch, tr in next ch, htr in next ch, dc in next ch, ss in final ch.

Fasten off.

Sew a Leaf onto the back of any 5 of the Flowers.

TO FINISH

Using the image as a guide, attach the Flowers to the Wreath either side of the Banner. Make a bow out of the ribbon and attach it to the top of the Wreath. Weave in any remaining ends.
