If there was ever a time for hats, this is it. This slouchie beanie has the advantage of suiting most face shapes. White and amber colours are a great match for fair skin; try switching in a deeper shade for darker skin tones.

NOTES

Hat is worked as a flat piece from the bottom up, alternatin­g Pure and Amber every 2 rows. Change colour on the final yrh of return pass to begin next row in new colour. Carry unused yarn up the side of your work.

The sides are seamed and the Crown is closed before a ribbing section is worked around the base of the Hat.

All Tunisian treble stitches are worked into the vertical bar two rows below.

SLOUCHY HAT

Using an 8mm Tunisian hook and Pure, ch67.

Row 1 (RS) *Insert hook into back bump of second ch from hook, yrh and pull up a loop; rep from * in each ch across (67 loops on hook), RetP across. [67 sts]

Row 2 (RS) Tss in each stitch across (67 loops on hook), RetP across changing to Amber on final yrh of RetP.

Row 3 Ttr around next st 2 rows below, Tss in next 2 sts, *slip next st, Ttr in next st, Tss in next 2 sts; rep from * 14 times more, slip next st, Ttr next st, Tss in final st, (67 loops), RetP across.

Row 4 As Row 2, changing to Pure on the final yrh of RetP.

Row 5 Tss in next st, *slip next st, Ttr in next st, Tss in next 2 sts; rep from * 15 times more, Tss in final st, RetP across.

Row 6 As Row 2, changing to Amber on the final yrh of RetP.

TO MAKE UP

Block the Hat before joining seams.

With WS facing, sew the row ends together to form a tube. Using the long tail, thread through the sts of the final round and pull tight to close the Crown. Weave in ends to secure the seams.

RIBBING

Turn the Hat upside down to work into the opposite side of the foundation ch.

With RS facing and using a 6mm hook, join Pure into any ch.

Round 1 (RS) Ch1 (does not count as a st), htr in each ch around, ss to beg htr. [66 sts]

Round 2 (RS) Ch2 (counts as st throughout), (FPhtr around next st, BPhtr around next st) 32 times, FPhtr around final st, ss to top of beg ch-2.

Round 3 As Round 2.

Fasten off and weave in ends.
