FLOOR CUSHION

Brighten your space with this stunning oor cushion

Ideal for a kids bedroom, teenage hangout or craft corner, this gorgeous floor cushion is a great way to try out colourwork as well as new stitches. Why not make one (or two!) in colours to match the decor or stick to cheerful brights for a statement seat.

NOTES

Floor Cushion is made up of two Panels and a Middle Band. All parts are joined together at the end. Weave in the ends as you go to speed up the making up process.

FLOOR CUSHION

PANEL MAKE 2

Using Yarn A, ch86.

Row 1 (RS) Dc in second ch from hook and each ch across, turn. [85 sts]

Rows 2-6 Ch1 (does not count as a st throughout), dc in each st across, turn. Change to Yarn B.

Row 7 Ch1 (does not count as a st throughout), dc in first st, *spiked dc in next st 2 rows below, spiked dc in next st 3 rows below, spiked dc in next st 4 rows below, spiked dc in next st 3 rows below, spiked dc in next st 2 rows below, spiked dc in next st on current row (having skipped 5 sts); rep from * across, turn.

Rows 8-11 As Row 2.

Change to Yarn C.

Row 12 Ch1, *spiked dc in next st 4 rows below, spiked dc in next st 3 rows below, spiked dc in next st 2 rows below, dc in next st on current row, spiked dc in next st 2 rows below, spiked dc in next st 3 rows below; rep from * across to final st, spiked dc in final st 4 rows below, turn.

Rows 13-16 Repeat Row 2.

Change to Yarn D.

Rows 17-106 Repeat Rows 7-16 changing colour every 5 rows in the following sequence:

Yarn D, Yarn A, Yarn E, Yarn F, Yarn G, Yarn A, Yarn B, Yarn C.

Fasten off.

EDGING

With RS facing, join Yarn A into top-right corner.

Round 1 (RS) Ch1, *3dc in corner (pm in second dc), dc in each st to next corner, 3dc in corner (pm in second dc), (skip next row end, dc in next 4 row ends) 21 times, skip next row end; rep from * once more, ss to beg dc. [348 sts]

Round 2 Ch1 * dc in each st to marker, 3dc in marked st (pm in second dc); rep from * around, ss to beg dc. [360 sts]

Round 3 As Round 2. [372 sts] Fasten off and weave in ends.

MIDDLE BAND

Using Yarn G, ch18.

Row 1 (RS) Dc in second ch from hook and each ch cross, turn. [17 sts]

Rows 2-8 Ch1, dc in each st across. Change to Yarn F.

Rows 10-336 Repeat Row 2 changing colour every 8 rows in the following sequence: Yarn E, Yarn D, Yarn C, Yarn B, Yarn G, Yarn F.

Ss to final row with the opposite side of the foundation ch to join.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

JOINING AND LOOP EDGING

Position Middle Band around the foam cushion. Position a Panel onto the Foam and join Yarn A through any st of Panel and Middle Band. Work all sts through both pieces to join.

Round 1 Ch1, dc in each st around, ss to beg dc. [372 sts]

Round 2 (Ch12, dc in next st) rep around.

Fasten off.

Repeat Rounds 1-2 on the second Panel.

Fasten off and weave in ends.
