British crochet designer Zoe told us: ”I first got ‘hooked’ when a friend introduced me to crochet just before I had my first child. I used Pip Lincolne’s videos on her blog, Meet me at Mike’s, to make an amigurumi panda called Morris and a huge larksfoot blanket which is still in daily use in my home. Once I had my children, I found crochet the perfect craft, as it’s easy to pick up, put down and take anywhere. Particularly after the birth of my twins, I realised I could find a real sense of calm in crocheting and an outlet for my creativity in design. Designing and making garments I truly love to wear has been a revelation and I am now a jumper making addict.

“I mostly find inspiration in the landscape around me which is coastal and beautiful in all seasons. I am in love with bold geometric pattern and also find music and pop culture hugely motivating and inspiring. Seeing the world through my children’s eyes reminds me to look at the detail and slow down.

I can’t walk past mustard yarn, and whilst I do love bold colours, I probably naturally gravitate towards more neutral tones.

Mustard and monochrome have my heart.

“The first blanket I ever made still makes me feel proud, mostly because it is huge! As far as triumphs go, having my first pattern published in a magazine, and being featured as a guest blogger on Make and Do Crew certainly made some of my crochet dreams come true. I have to say however, there is nothing like seeing someone dear to you wearing something you have made for them. That never gets old!”
