NOTES

Bucket Bag is worked from the Base up in rounds, with RS facing throughout. The Base is worked around the foundation chain in increasing rounds.

An i-cord Tie and Fastener are made separately.

Slip stitches are not included in st counts unless otherwise stated.

BUCKET BAG

BASE

Ch24.

Round 1 (RS) Tr in third ch from hook and next 20 ch, 6tr in final ch, turn to work into opposite side of foundation ch, tr in next 20 ch, 5tr in final ch, ss to top of beg tr to join. [52 sts] Round 2 (RS) Ch2 (does not count as a st throughout), (tr in next 20 sts, 2dc in next 6 sts) 2 times, ss to top of beg tr. [64 sts]

Round 3 Ch2, *tr in next 20 sts, (tr in next st, 2tr in next st) 6 times; rep from * once more, ss to top of beg tr. [76 sts]

Round 4 Ch2, *tr in next 20 sts, (2tr in next st, tr in next 2 sts) 6 times; rep from * once more, ss to top of beg tr. [88 sts]

Round 5 Ch2, *tr in next 20 sts, (tr in next 3 sts, 2tr in next st) 6 times; repeat from * once more, ss to top of beg tr. [100 sts]

Round 6 Ch2, *tr in next 20 sts, (2tr in next st, tr in next 4 sts) 6 times; repeat from * once more, ss to top of beg tr. [112 sts]

Do not fasten off.

BODY

Round 7 (Work in back two loops only; see Abbreviati­ons) Ch2, tr in each st around, ss to top of beg tr. [112 sts]

Rounds 8-10 Ch2, tr in each st around, ss to top of beg tr.

Round 11 (Work in back two loops) Ch1 (does not count as a st throughout), *dc in next 3 sts, ch3, skip 2 sts, dc in next 2 sts; rep from * 15 times more, ss to top of beg dc.

[80 dc, 16 ch-3 sps]

Round 12 Ch1, *dc in next st, skip 2 dc, 9tr in ch-3 sp (pm in third tr of first rep), skip 2 sts; rep from * 15 times more, ss to top of beg dc, ss to marked st. [16 dc, 144 tr)]

Round 13 Ch1, *dc in next 5 sts, ch3, skip (2tr, 1dc, 2tr), rep from * 15 times more, ss to top of beg dc. [80 dc, 16 ch-3 spaces]

Round 14 Ss in next 2 sts, ch1, dc in same st, *skip 2 dc, 9tr in ch-3 sp (pm in third tr of first rep), skip 2 dc, dc in next st; rep from * around, ss to top of beg dc, ss to marked st.

[16 dc, 144 tr]

Rounds 15–32 Repeat Rounds 13-14.

Round 33 As Round 13. [80 dc, 16 ch-3 spaces] Round 34 Ch2, (tr in next 5 sts, 2 tr in next ch-3 sp) 16 times, ss in first st. [112 sts]

Rounds 35–37 Ch2, tr in each st around, ss to top of beg tr.

Round 38 Ss in each st around.

Fasten off and weave in all ends..

I CORD TIE

Make an 80cm long i-cord as follows:

Ch3, insert hook into second ch from hook, yrh and pull up a loop, insert hook into last ch from hook, yrh and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook), *remove second and third loop from hook and secure them with a stitch marker, yrh and pull through loop on hook, place second loop back on hook, yrh and pull through second loop, place third loop back on hook, yrh and pull through third loop on hook; rep from * until i-cord measures 80cm, slip the third loop through the second loop and remove second loop from hook, yrh and pull through 2 loops on hook.

Fasten off.

FASTENER

Ch10, ss to last ch from hook to form a loop. Rounds 1-3 Ch1, dc in each st around. [10 sts] Fasten off leaving a long tail.

Flatten the Fastener and sew the centre together to form two sections for the String Tie to pass through.

TO FINISH

Weave in all ends.

Thread the i-cord Tie through the sts of Round 35, starting from the front-centre of the Bag and ending 7 sts from the where you began. Thread the i-cord tie through the Fastener. Sew the D-rings either side of the Bag over Round 33 and attach the bag straps.
