With a 4mm hook, ch61 (64: 67: 70: 73: 76).

ARMHOLE SHAPING

With a separate piece of yarn, join in top of beg ch-3 of previous row and ch4 (5: 6: 7: 8: 9).

Fasten off.

Next row Ch6 (7: 8: 9: 10: 11), tr in fourth ch from hook and next 2 (3: 4: 5: 6: 7) ch, (skipped ch count and first tr), work in establishe­d patt until tr has been worked in top of beg ch-3, tr in each ch of added extension ch, turn. You have now added 4 (5: 6: 7: 8: 9) tr on each side. Working tr in these additional tr, cont patt as establishe­d until work measures 34 (34: 35: 35: 36: 36)cm.

Change to a 3.75mm hook and cont in patt until work measures 44.5 (44.5: 45: 45: 46.5: 46.5)cm.

Change back to a 4mm hook, cont for 5cm, then change to a 5mm hook and cont until Back measures 99 (100: 101: 102: 103: 104)cm or desired length ending with Row 2 of pattern. Fasten off.

RIGHT FRONT

Please refer to the Stitch Diagram on page 88 for the front shaping. Please note as the piece is worked top down the neckline shaping is worked over Rows 2-20.

With a 4mm hook, ch16 (17: 18: 19: 20: 21).

The establishe­d patt for the following rows is (tr at armhole edge, Shell Patt). The increasing at the neckline edge will be worked onto the tr at the neckline edge. Only the increased sts will be written in the stitch counts.

Row 13 (decrease row) Cont in patt as establishe­d, but work a tr2tog over 2 of the sts in each of the 3 tr groups, decreasing by 3 sts in total. [4 shells, 2 Cluster Patts, 4 ch-2 sps, 12 (12: 19: 19: 26: 26) tr]

Work 7 rows in patt without decreases. Repeat the decrease row as Row 13. [4 shells, 2 Cluster Patts, 4 ch-2 sps, 9 (9: 16: 16: 23: 23) tr] Work 3 rows in patt without decreases. Repeat the decrease row as Row 13. [4 shells, 2 Cluster Patts, 4 ch-2 sps, 6 (6: 13: 13: 20: 20) tr] Cont in patt as establishe­d until Sleeve measures 42cm ending with a Row 2 of Cluster Patt.

Fasten off.

TO MAKE UP

Mark centre top of Sleeve and match with shoulder seam. Pin in place with edges of

Sleeve meeting armhole shaping. Sew shoulder seams. Sew underarm Sleeve seam and side seam on Body in one.

FRONT AND NECK BORDERS

Rejoin yarn with RS facing and a 4mm hook at bottom corner of Right Front.

Row 1 (RS) Ch3, work 2tr in each row end up to shoulder seam, then 1 tr in each st of foundation ch across back neck and 2 tr in each row end down Left Front, turn. Measure 38 (38: 40.5: 40.5: 43: 43)cm down from shoulder on Right Front and mark this point for buttonhole (optional).

Row 2 Ch3, tr in each st around, working (ch2, skip 2 sts) at marked point to make buttonhole, turn.

Row 3 Ch3, tr in each st around and 2tr in ch-2 sp.

Fasten off.

TO FINISH

Sew the button in line with the buttonhole if required. Do not press. Block if needed by spraying with water, shaping and allowing to dry.
