SHE IS LIFE

▼ The Aisha Doll pattern was created by Aniqua Wilkerson to celebrate and represent crochet dolls of colour. Doing more than just using brown yarn for her skin, Aisha (‘she is life’ in Swahili) was made with tightly coiled hair and a braided fringe to illustrate the kinky texture often associated with African/Black hair. The design was featured in issue 66 but you can also buy the pattern on Etsy from MyKindaThing, where you will find other dolls of colour, including Elijah and Jamila.
