NOTES
Blanket and Cushion are made up of Motifs, which are joined together at the end. Motifs are worked in rounds, with RS facing throughout.
Change colour on final yrh of st before colour change is indicated. Where more than one colour is used in a round, carry the unused colours across the WS of your work, enclosing the strands in the stitches as you work. Motifs are worked in two colourways for the Blanket and four colourways for the Cushion (two of these colourways are the same as the Blanket). Instructions are written for the first colourway with the alternate colourway written in brackets. Refer to Colourway Table to the left for all colour changes.
LAP BLANKET
MOTIF MAKE 36
Make 18 in each colourway.
Using Yarn A (Yarn B), ch6 and ss to last ch to form a loop.
Round 1 (RS) Ch3 (counts as a tr throughout), 2tr into loop, (ch2, 3tr into loop) 3 times, ch2, ss to top of beg ch-3 to join. [12 tr, 4 ch-2 sps]
Fasten off.
Join Yarn C (Yarn D) into any ch-2 sp.
Round 2 Ch3, (2tr, ch2, 3tr, ch1) into same sp, (3tr, ch2, 3tr, ch1) into each ch-2 sp around, ss to top of beg ch-3. [24 tr, 4 ch-1 sps, 4 ch-2 sps]
Fasten off.
Join Yarn D (Yarn C) into any ch-2 sp.
Round 3 Ch3, *(2tr, ch2, 3tr) in same sp, change to Yarn E (Yarn E), ch1, 3tr in next ch-1 sp, change to Yarn D (Yarn C), ch1, (3tr, ch2, 3tr) in next ch-2 sp, change to Yarn F (Yarn F), ch1, 3tr in ch-1 sp, change to Yarn D (Yarn C), ch1,** tr in next ch-2 sp; rep from * to ** once more, ss to top of beg ch-3. Block Motifs to measurements stated.
TO MAKE UP
Lay the Motifs out in a 6x6 formation, alternating the colourways and lining up the colours on the side edges so they match. Using Yarn D, whipstitch them together, RS together, working through the back loops only. Fasten off and weave in ends.
BORDER
Join Yarn C into any corner of the Blanket.
Round 1 (RS) Ch3, 2tr in same sp, change to Yarn D, (ch2, 3tr) in same corner sp, *change to Yarn C, (ch1, 3tr in next ch-1 sp), change to Yarn D, (ch1, 3tr) in next sp; rep from * to next corner, **(ch1, 3tr, ch2, 3tr) in next corner continuing to change colour for each 3-tr group throughout the round, (ch1, 3tr) in each ch-1 sp across to next corner; rep from ** to end, ss to top of beg ch-3. [168 3-tr groups]
Using Yarn C, ss into ch-2 sp.
Round 2 Ch3, *(tr, ch2, 3tr) in same sp, (ch1, 3tr) in each ch-1 sp to next corner, ch1, tr in next ch-2 sp; rep from * 3 times more omitting final tr, ss to top of beg ch-3. [172 3-tr groups] Join Yarn A into any ch-2 sp.
Round 3 As Round 1, using Yarn A instead of Yarn C and Yarn B instead of Yarn D.

Join Yarn C into any ch-2 sp.
Round 4 As Round 2. [180 3-tr groups] Fasten off and weave in ends.
CUSHION
MOTIF MAKE 18
Using the colourway for the Blanket make 5 Motifs in first colourway an 4 Motifs in second colourway.
Using the colourway for the Cushion make 5 Motifs in first colourway an 4 Motifs in second colourway.
Block to the measurements stated.
TO MAKE UP
Take 5 Motifs in the first colourway and 4 Motifs in the second colourway and lay them in a 3x3 formation. You can refer to the images as a guide.
Using Yarn D, whipstitch the Motifs together by placing them RS together and working through the back loops only.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Repeat for the remaining 9 Motifs to make the second panel.
BORDER
Join Yarn C into any corner on one panel of the Cushion.
Round 1 (RS) Ch3, 2tr in same sp, change to Yarn D, (ch2, 3tr) in same corner sp, *change to Yarn C, (ch1, 3tr in next ch-1 sp), change to Yarn D, (ch1, 3tr) in next sp; rep from * to next corner, **(ch1, 3tr, ch2, 3tr) in next corner continuing to change colour for each 3-tr group here and throughout the round, (ch1, 3tr) in each ch-1 sp across to next corner; rep from ** to end, ss to top of beg ch-3.
Fasten off.
Join Yarn D into any corner.
Round 2 Ch3, *(2tr, ch2, 3tr) in same sp, 3tr in each ch-1 sp to next corner, tr in next ch-2 sp; rep from * 3 times more omitting final tr, ss to top of beg ch-3.
Join Yarn A into any ch-2 sp.
Fasten off.
Repeat Rounds 1-2 of Border on second panel.
TO FINISH
Sew zip in place centrally along one side of a Panel and sew opposite side of zip to second panel in the same way.
Hold the panels together with WS facing out. Join Yarn D through first corner after zip.
Round 1 (Working through both panels to join) Ch2 (counts as a dc), 2dc in same corner, *dc in each st to next corner, 3dc in corner; rep from * three times more, dc in each st to beg of zip, dc in each st across panel facing only to end of zip, dc through sts on both panels to corner, ss to top of beg ch-2.
Fasten off.
Turn Cushion over so second panel is facing. Join Yarn D into the first unworked st at start of zip, dc in each st to end of zip, ss in next st.
Fasten off.
