Summer’s dawn

Catch the sun and hook it up in a vibrant blanket

-

If only we could wrap ourselves in warm summer rays all winter long… Well, we think this blanket is as close as you can get!

NOTES

Blanket is made up of 36 Squares, which are joined together at the end. Each Square is worked in a corner-to-corner construction (c2c), working blocks diagonally across each row. Each ‘block’ is made up of a ch3 and 3tr and each ‘row’ is worked diagonally, starting with 1 block in the bottom right corner, increasing to 2 blocks in the next row, 3 blocks in the next row, and so on. Once you have worked 12 blocks in one row you will then begin decreasing by 1c2c block each row. For the increasing rows, change colour on the final yrh of st before the colour change is indicated. For the decreasing rows, change colour on the first ss of the row, after the beg ch-3.

Refer to Colourway Table below for all colour changes.

TO MAKE UP

You should now have 4 identical Squares in each colourway.

Take 2 identical Squares and, with RS facing, align Rows 1-12 and sew together using matching yarns for each colour change. Take the other 2 identical Squares and, with RS facing, align Rows 12-23 then sew together in the same way.

Rep this for all remaining Squares, making 18 rectangles in total.

Play around with different layouts and, when happy, sew together using your preferred method, making sure to always have RS facing.

BORDER

With RS facing, join Yarn I into any corner.

Round 1 (RS) Ch2 (counts as a dc), (1dc, ch2, 2dc) in same sp, *dc in each st across to next corner, (2dc, ch2, 2dc) into corner; rep from

* 3 times more omitting final corner, ss to top of beg ch-2 to join. [220 dc on each side]

Round 2 (RS) Ch3 (counts as tr), *tr in each st to next ch-2 sp, (2tr, ch2, 2tr) in ch-2 sp; rep from * around, ss to top of beg ch-3.

[224 tr on each side]

Fasten off and weave in all ends.
