EmmA’S TOP TIPS FOR VINTAGE ROMANCE IN CROCHET

FINDING TIME FOR CROCHET

Many designers struggle to find a balance between designing for business and finding time for their own crochet, and so end up frustrated or burnt out. Emma has a simple way of ensuring she doesn’t fall into this trap by seeing herself as a maker first, designer second. She makes what she wants so sharing the design is a pleasure, not work at all. It’s just as relaxing and enjoyable as it is for anyone who loves crochet. With all the intricate patterns and calculations that comes with her delicate designs, she does however like to have a really simple project on the go all the times, (mostly involving granny squares), that she can unwind with in the evenings.

HOW TO KEEP EVOLVING WHAT NEXT?

Never one to resist a challenge, Emma is adding another string to her bow by writing a crochet book. She was approached by a publisher who fell in love with her style and asked her to create a book with a romantic feel. Emma was delighted as she is an avid book collector and the thought of having her name on one was a dream come true. The book contains everything that Emma loves – homewares, bags, and garments. She describes the process as an ‘eye opener’ as it’s so different from her usual design technique, but as ever, she has stayed true to herself and has created yet more beautiful crochet in her unique style for everyone to enjoy. I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy!
