Vicki Roberts’ circle motifs make a feature for a plain scarf
Flowers, targets or a nod to 60s mod fashion? Whatever your preference, your scarf will run rings around the rest!
NOTES
The Scarf is made in 2 pieces and sewn together with a seam at the centre back.
SCARF
MOTIF MAKE 6
Using Azalea, make a magic loop.
Round 1 (RS) Ch2 (counts as htr), 7hrt into loop, ss to top of beg ch-2. [8 htr]
Round 2 (RS) Ch2 (counts as htr), htr in base of ch-2, 2htr in each st around, ss to top of beg ch-2. [16 htr]
Fasten o and join Quartz in any st.
Round 3 Ch2 (counts a rst leg of cl), tr in st at base of ch-2, ch1, (2-tr cl, ch1) in each st around, ss to top beg ch-3. [16 cl, 16 ch-1 sp]
Fasten o and join Indigo into any ch-1 sp. Round 4 Ch2 (counts as rst leg of cl), 2-tr cl in same sp, ch1, (3-tr-cl, ch1) in each ch-1 sp around, ss to top of beg ch-3.
Fasten o and join Misty into any ch-1 sp. Round 5 Ch4 (counts as a dtr), (2dtr, ch2, 3dtr) in the same ch-sp, *ch1, 3tr in next ch-sp, ch1, 3htr in next ch-sp, ch1, 3tr in next ch-sp, ch1 **, (3dtr, ch2, 3dtr) into next ch-sp; rep from * 3 times more ending last rep at **, ss into top of beg ch-4. [60 sts, 16 ch-1 sps, 4 ch-2 sps]
Fasten o and weave in ends.
Block Squares to measurements given.
SCARF PANEL MAKE 2
LOWER SECTION
Sew 3 Motifs together side by side. Join Misty into rst st after ch-2 corner sp on top RH side. Row 1 (RS) Ch3 (counts as tr throughout), tr in next 14 sts (skipping all ch-1 sps), (tr in next 2 ch-2 corner sps, tr in next 15 sts) twice, tr in nal ch-2 corner sp, turn. [50 tr]
Rows 2-10 Ch3, tr in each st across, turn.
Row 11 *Ch3, skip 2 sts, ss in the next st; repeat from * to end. Fasten o .
MIDDLE SECTION
Turn over so Motifs row is at top. Join Misty into rst st after ch-2 corner sp on top RH side.
Row 1 (RS) As Row 1 of Lower Section. [50 sts] Rows 2-62 As Row 2 of Lower Section.
Fasten o and weave in ends.
TO MAKE UP
Sew nal rows of Middle section of both Panels together. To add a fringe, cut 5 lengths of yarn 30cm long, fold in half and pull through any ch-3 sp on Row 11 of the Lower Section, thread the tails through the loop to secure. Repeat across both short edges of the Scarf.
