■ DROPS Paris (100% cotton, 50g/75m), 1 ball of each: Red (12), Brown (44), Off White (17), Shocking Pink (06), Plum (66)

■ A 4mm (US G/6) hook

■ Cake box, 22cm in diameter

Tension is not critical for this project, but it may affect the yarn quantities required

Cake Box measures approx 22Xcm (8 in) in diameter and 8cm (3 in) tall

CAKE BOX COVER

Using Brown, make a magic loop.

Round 1 (RS) Ch1 (does not count as st throughout), 6dc in loop, ss to beg dc. [6 sts]

Round 2 (RS) Ch1, 2dc in each st around, ss to beg dc. [12 sts]

Round 3 Ch1, (1dc, 2dc in next st) 6 times, ss to beg dc. [18 sts]

Round 4 Ch1 (2dc, 2dc in next st) 6 times, ss to beg dc. [24 sts]

Round 5 Ch1, (3dc, 2dc in next st) 6 times, ss to beg dc. [30 sts]

Round 6 Ch1, (4dc, 2dc in next st) 6 times, ss to beg dc. [36 sts]

Round 7 Ch1, (5dc, 2dc in next st) 6 times, ss to beg dc. [42 sts]

Round 8 Ch1, (6dc, 2dc in next st) 6 times, ss to beg dc. [48 sts]

Round 9 Ch1, (7dc, 2dc in next st) 6 times, ss to beg dc. [54 sts]

Round 10 Ch1, (8dc, 2dc in next st) 6 times, ss to beg dc. [60 sts]

Round 11 Ch1, (9dc, 2dc in next st) 6 times, ss to beg dc. [66 sts]

Round 12 Ch1, (10dc, 2dc In next st) 6 times, ss to beg dc. [72 sts]

Round 13 Ch1, (11dc, 2dc In next st) 6 times, ss to beg dc. [78 sts]

Round 14 Ch1, (12dc, 2dc In next st) 6 times, ss to beg dc. [84 sts]

Round 15 Ch1, (13dc, 2dc In next st) 6 times, ss to beg dc. [90 sts]

Round 16 Ch1, dc in each st around, ss to beg dc.

Rounds 17-19 As Round 16.

Change to Plum.

Rounds 20-23 As Round 16.

Change to Brown.

Rounds 24-27 As Round 16. Fasten off.

CREAM EDGING

Using Off White, ch91.

Row 1 (RS) 2tr in second ch from hook, ss in next 2 ch, (ch3, 2-tr cl in next ch, ss in next 2 ch) 29 times. Fasten off.

Sew to the final Row of the Cover.

STRAWBERRI­ES (MAKE 3)

Using Red, make a magic loop.

Round 1 (RS) Ch1, 4dc in loop, ss to beg dc. [4 sts] Round 2 Ch1, 2dc in each st around, ss to beg dc. [8 sts]

Round 3 Ch1, (1dc, 2dc in next st) 6 times, ss to beg dc. [12 sts]

Round 3 Ch1, dc in each st around, ss to beg dc. Round 4 Ch1, (dc2tog) 6 times, ss to beg dc.

[6 sts] Round 5 Ch1, (dc2tog) 3 times, ss to beg dc. [3 sts] Fasten off.

Using Off White, embroider small sts over the Strawberri­es. You can use the image as a guide.

RASPBERRIE­S (MAKE 3)

Using Shocking Pink, work as Strawberri­es. Using the end tail, pull through the centre to form a dimple at the top of each Raspberry.

CREAM TOPPING

Using Off White, ch121.

Row 1 (RS) 2tr in second ch from hook, ss in next 2 ch, (ch3, 2-tr cl in next ch, ss in next 2 ch) 39 times. Fasten off.

TO MAKE UP

Use the images as a guide when making up. Sew the Strawberri­es and Raspberrie­s to the centre of the Cover.

Pin the Cream Topping around the Strawberri­es and Raspberrie­s, working out as a spiral. Once happy, sew in place.
