Bacon ‘n’ Egg

Easy peasy

YOU WILL NEED

■ Any DK yarn in red, grey, pink,

beige, yellow and white

■ A 4mm (US G/6) hook

NOTES

Square and Pan are worked first in one piece. Bacon and Egg are made separately and sewn to the Square at the end.

BACON ‘N’ EGG SQUARE

Using grey, make a magic loop.

Round 1 (RS) Ch3 (counts as a tr throughout), 11tr in loop, ss to top of beg ch-3. [12 sts]

Round 2 Ch3, tr in st at base of ch-3, 2tr in each st around, ss to top of beg ch-3. [24 sts]

Round 3 Ch3, tr in st at base of ch-3, tr in next st, (2tr in next st, tr in next st) 11 times, ss to top of beg ch-3. [36 sts]

Round 4 Ch3, tr in st at base of ch-3, tr in next 2 sts, (2tr in next st, tr in next 2 sts) 11 times, ss to top of beg ch-3. [48 sts]

Fasten off grey.

Join red in any st.

Round 5 Ch2 (counts as a htr), *dc in next 4 sts, htr in next 2 sts, tr in next st, 2dtr in next st, ch2, 2dtr in next st, tr in next st, htr in next 2 sts; rep from * 3 times more omitting final st on last rep, ss to top of beg ch-2.

[56 sts, 4 ch-2 sps]

Round 6 Ch3, *tr in each st to ch-2 sp, (2tr, ch2, 2tr) in ch-sp; rep from * around, ss to top of beg ch-3. Fasten off.

PAN RIM

With RS facing, join grey around post of any tr from Round 4.

Round 1 Ch1, dc around post of each st of Round 4, ss to beg dc. [48 sts] Round 2 Ch1 dc in each st around,

ss to beg dc.

Fasten off. EGG

Using yellow, make a magic loop.

Round 1 Ch3 (counts as a tr throughout), 11tr into loop, ss to top of beg ch-3. [12 sts] Change to white.

Round 2 Ch3, tr in st at base of ch-3, 2tr in each st around, ss to top of beg ch-3. [24 sts] Fasten off.

BACON

Using pink, ch17.

Row 1 Dc in second ch from hook and each ch across, turn. [15 sts]

Rows 2-3 Ch1, dc in each st across,

turn.

Row 4 Ch1, dc2tog, dc in next 4 sts, dc2tog, turn, leaving rem sts unworked. [6 sts]

Row 5 Ch1, dc2tog, dc in next 2 sts, dc2tog. [4 sts]

Fasten off.

Join beige in first st on long edge.

Row 1 Ch1, dc in each st across. Fasten off.

Sew the Bacon and Egg to the Pan.

PAN HANDLE

Using grey, ch13.

Row 1 (RS) Dc in second ch from hook and each ch to end, turn. [12 sts] Rows 2-5 Ch1, dc in each st across, turn.

Fold piece in half so the foundation ch is in line with Row 5. Dc both edges together.

Fasten off.

Sew the Pan Handle to the Pan Rim.

Weave in all ends.
