Tricky YOU WILL NEED

■ Any DK weight yarn in yellow,

white and green

■ A 3.5mm (US E/4) hook

■ A 3mm (US C/2 or D/3) hook MEASUREMENTS

Square measures approx 12x12cm (4¾x4¾in) NOTES

Square is worked in rounds with RS facing. Base, Lid, Spout and Handle are made separately and sewn to the Square at the end. LITTLE TEAPOT SQUARE

Using a 3.5mm hook and yellow, make a magic loop.

Round 1 (RS) Ch1 (does not count as st throughout), 11htr in loop, ss to top of beg htr. [11 sts]

Round 2 (RS) Ch1, 2htr in each st around, ss to beg htr. [22 sts]

Round 3 Ch1, (2htr in next st, 1htr) 11 times, ss to beg htr. [33 sts]

Round 4 Ch1, htr in next 2 sts, (2htr in next st, htr in next 2 sts) 10 times, 2htr in final st, ss to beg htr. [44 sts]

Change to white.

Round 5 Ch1, *dc in next 2 sts, htr in next 2 sts, tr in next st, 2tr in next st, ch2, 2tr in next st, tr in next st, htr in next 2 sts, dc in next st; rep from * 3 times more, ss to beg dc. [52 sts, 4 ch-2 sps]

Round 6 Ch2 (does not count as st throughout), *tr in each st to ch-2 sp, (tr, ch2, tr) in ch-sp; rep from * around, ss to beg tr.

[60 sts, 4 ch-2 sps]

Round 7 Ch2, tr in each st to ch-2 sp, (2tr, ch1, 2tr) in ch-sp; rep from * around, ss to beg tr.

[76 sts, 4 ch-1 sps]

Round 8 Ch1, *dc in each st to ch-1 sp, (dc, ch1, dc) in ch-sp; rep from * around, ss to beg dc. Fasten off. BASE

Using a 3mm hook and green, ch10.

Row 1 Ss in second ch from hook and each ch across. Fasten off. LID

Using a 3mm hook and green, ch11. Row 1 (RS) Dc in second ch from hook and next 9 ch. [10 sts] Fasten off.

With RS facing, join yellow in first st.

Row 2 (RS) Ch2 (do not count as a st), (tr2tog) twice, tr in next 2 sts, (tr2tog) twice, turn. [6 sts]

Row 3 (WS) Ch1, (dc2tog) 3 times.

[3 sts] Fasten off yellow.

With RS facing, join green in first st of Row 3.

Row 4 Ch1, dc3tog, turn. [1 st] Row 5 Ch1, 1dc. [1 st] Fasten off. SPOUT

Using a 3mm hook and yellow, ch8. Row 1 (RS) 2htr in third ch from hook, 2htr in next ch, htr2tog over

next 2 ch, tr2tog over next 2 ch. Fasten off. HANDLE

Using a 3mm hook and yellow, ch23.

Row 1 (RS) Dc in second ch from hook, dc in next ch, (2dc in next ch, dc in next 2 ch) twice, 2dc in next ch, dc in next ch, (dc3tog) 4 times. Fasten off. TO FINISH

Use the image as a guide when assembling your Square. Using green, embroider decoration on the teapot. Sew the Handle, Spout, Lid and Base in place.

Weave in all ends.
