■ Any DK yarn in 5 colours ■ A 4mm (US G/6) hook

■ A 3.5mm (US E/4) hook MEASUREMENTS

Square measures approx 12x12cm (4¾x4¾in) NOTES

Square is worked in rows. The Glass is made separately and sewn to the Square at the end. Coulours are referred to as Yarns A-E. DIRTY MARTINI SQUARE

Using a 4m hook and Yarn A, ch18.

Row 1 (RS) Htr in third ch from hook and each ch across, turn. [16 sts]

Row 2 Ch2 (does not count as st throughout), htr in each st to end, turn. Rows 3-12 As Row 2, do not turn at end of Row 13.

Work a round of dc evenly around, working 3dc in each corner and 14dc across each side. Fasten off. GLASS

BASE

Using a 3.5mm hook and Yarn B, ch8. Row 1 (RS) Dc in second ch from hook, dc in next ch, htr in next 2 ch, ch6, skip 1 ch, ss in next 5 ch, htr in same ch as prev htr, htr in next ch, dc in final 2 ch. Fasten off.

TOP

Using a 3.5mm hook and Yarn C, make a magic loop.

Round 1 (RS) Ch3 (counts as tr throughout), 4tr in loop, turn. [5 sts] Row 2 (WS) Ch3, tr in st at base of ch-3, tr in each st to final st, 2tr in final st, turn. [7 sts]

Rows 3-4 As Row 2. [11 sts] Fasten off.

Join Yarn B in top-left corner and work 8dc down row-end edge, 3dc in base and 8dc up next edge. Fasten off. OLIVE

Using a 3.5mm hook and Yarn D, make a magic loop.

Round 1 Ch2, 8htr in loop, ss to top of beg htr. Fasten off. TO FINISH

Using the image as a guide, sew the Glass and Olive to the Square. Using Yarn E, embroider the cocktail stick through the Olive. Weave in all ends.
