TOFT: DYE, BIRD AND DOLL CLUBS

-

What do you get? You may have already heard of TOFT – they have their own yarn brand, line of kits, books and a magazine. And when it comes to projects, they're far and away the most eclectic. All their clubs are amigurumi-based, but the subjects themselves are wild and wonderful. With their Dye Club, you get a hand-dyed skein, safety eyes and an A5 pattern of the latest realistic animal from Edward’s Menagerie by designer Kerry Lord (aka the creator of TOFT). There’s also a Bird Club that includes yarn and a digital pattern and a Doll Club with kits to make amigurumi women from history. You’ll need to get your own hook, stuffing, wool needle and, depending on the club, eyes.

What sets this one apart? The exciting animals and historical figures designed by TOFT founder Kerry Lord. In our kit, we had a pattern and yarn for Kaida the

Dragon Millipede. Past kits have included patterns for rosy maple moths, a leafy sea dragon and more. The Bird Club has featured a huge range of species, too. And the Doll Club has featured women like mountaineer Junko Tabei, suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst and civil rights icon Rosa Parks. This is a less frequent sub – a box comes out every three months for the Dye and Bird Clubs and every four months for the Doll Club. Good if you need some breathing room between projects.

Who’s it for? Intermediate to advanced amigurumi lovers, fans of hand-dyed limited-edition British wool and hooksters interested in natural science or history.

Can I gift a subscription? Yes! You can even choose between a one-off box or a rolling subscription.

How much? £25 and £30, paid quarterly, for the Dye and Bird clubs, respectively. £60, paid tri-annually, for the Doll Club.
