We loved it... SALTHOLME RSPB KNITS

What? The whimsical woolly wildlife display at RSPB Saltholme nature reserve and discovery park.

What did we do? Wandered around the wildlife garden taking in and snapping all the woolly knitted exhibits from eager north-east knitters, watched thousands of birds assemble on the pools and browsed the wellstocked gift shop for present ideas.

What did we buy? A wonderful hot meal made with locally-sourced ingredients, followed by freshly brewed coffee and a selection of mouthwatering handmade cakes.

Why you should go This busy charity is working hard to bring wildlife to everyone, with the occasional help of the crafting community. They run a selection of great events throughout the year so it’s always good to check out what craft initiatives they have going on over the seasons.
