Whip up these flecked woolly warmers by knitting on DPNs or a circular needle using magic loop. Working in the round leaves these fingerless mittens totally seam free, meaning you can add them to your charity stock as soon as you’ve finished knitting and sewing in your ends – we love them!

FINGERLESS MITTS

(MAKE TWO) Cast on 56 ( 60: 64) sts using 2 mm DPNs or a circular needle. Join to work in the round, taking care not to twist the sts. Work K2, P2 rib for 7cm, working in the round. Continue in st st for 12 more rounds.

THUMB GUSSET

Round 1 M1, K1, M1, PM, K to end of round. Rounds 2 & 3 K to sm, sl sm, K to end of round. Round 4 M1, K to sm, M1, sl sm, K to end of round. Repeat Rounds 2- 4 until there are 20 sts before the sm. Repeat Rounds 2 & 3 once more.

HAND

Place first 20 sts on a stitch holder for thumb. Cast on 2 sts and continue in st st to end of round. Continue in st st for 16 more rounds. Work 8 rounds in K2, P2 rib. Cast off.

THUMB

Place the 20 held sts back onto needles. Join in yarn at beginning of gusset. K20 then cast on 4 sts. Work 10 rounds in K2, P2 rib. Cast off and weave in ends.
