TENSION

Yarn used knits as sport weight to this tension: 21 sts and 30 rows to measure 10x10cm (4x4in) over st st using 3½mm needles 22 sts and 42 rows to measure 10x10cm (4x4in) over garter stitch (g st) using 3½mm needles

In Colour 1: Row 1 (RS) K2, *K4, yo, ssk, K4; rep from * to last st, K1. Row 2 and all WS rows Purl. Row 3 K2, *K2, k2tog, yo, K1, yo, ssk, K3; rep from * to last st, K1. Row 5 K2, *K1, k2tog, yo, K3, yo, ssk, K2; rep from * to last st, K1. Row 7 K2, *k2tog, yo, K5, yo, ssk, K1; rep from * to last st, K1. Row 9 K1, k2tog, *yo, K7, yo, s2kpo; rep from * to last 10 sts, yo, K7, yo, ssk, K1. In Colour 2: Rows 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19 Knit. Row 20 Purl.

BACK

Cast on 67 ( 71: 76: 80: 84: 88: 92: 96: 100: 105) sts using Yarn A and 3 mm needles. Work in Lace Stripe Pattern in the following colour sequence, working the first 4 ( 8:3: 7: 1: 5: 9: 3: 7: 2) sts in st st in the colours as set below and the rem 63 ( 63: 73: 73: 83: 83: 83: 93: 93: 103) sts in lace stripe pattern, following colours given below. Rows 1-10 Colour 1 is Yarn A. Rows 11-20 Colour 2 is Yarn B. Rows 21-30 Colour 1 is Yarn C. Rows 31- 40 Colour 2 is Yarn A. Rows 41-50 Colour 1 is Yarn B. Rows 51- 60 Colour 2 is Yarn C. Rep these 60 rows until work measures 34cm from cast- on edge, ending after a WS row. Place a marker at the beg of the next row to indicate the start of the sleeve. Cont in patt as set until work measures 49 ( 50: 51: 52: 53: 54: 55: 55: 56: 56) cm, from cast- on edge, ending after a WS row.

SHAPE NECK EDGE

Next row (RS) Pattern 38 ( 40: 45: 47: 49: 51: 55: 57: 61: 64), turn and put the rem 29 ( 31: 31: 33: 35: 37: 37: 39: 39: 41) sts onto a stitch holder. Next row ( WS) P2tog, patt to end.

GARTER ST SECTION

With RS facing and starting at neck edge, Yarn A and 3 mm needles, pick up and knit 108 ( 110: 112: 114: 118: 120: 122: 122: 124: 124) sts along the left edge. Next row ( WS) Using Yarn A, knit. Next row (RS) Using Yarn B, kfb, K to end. [1 st inc’d] Next row ( WS) Using Yarn B, K to end. Rep the last 2 rows, changing colour every 2 rows, in the foll sequence until there are 120 ( 122: 124: 126: 130: 132: 134: 134: 136: 136) sts: Yarn C Yarn A Yarn B Now work straight, continuing with colour sequence changes every 2 rows until straight shoulder section measures 13.5 ( 14.5: 17: 17.5: 18.5: 19.5: 21.5: 22.5: 24.5: 26) cm, ending after a WS row. Cast off all sts.

FRONT

NECK EDGING

Join left shoulder seam. With Yarn B and 3 mm needles, and with RS facing, pick up and knit 18 sts along right back neck, knit the 29 ( 31: 31: 33: 35: 37: 37: 39: 39: 41) sts from the back stitch holder, pick up and knit 18 sts along left back neck, pick up and knit 18 sts along left front neck, knit the 29 ( 31: 31: 33: 35: 37: 37: 39: 39: 41) sts from the front stitch holder and pick up and knit 18 sts along right front neck. [130 ( 134: 134: 138: 142: 146: 146: 150: 150: 154) sts] Work in g st for 2cm, ending after a RS row. Cast off knit-wise on the WS. Join right shoulder and neck edging.

SLEEVE EDGING

Work left sleeve. ** With Yarn B and 3 mm needles and with RS facing, pick up and knit 92 ( 96: 100: 104: 110: 114: 118: 118: 122: 122) sts between the sleeve markers. Work in g st for 3cm, ending after a RS row. Cast off knitwise on the WS. ***

WORK RIGHT SLEEVE

Measure from the shoulder seam down the g st edges of the front and back, placing a mark 21 ( 22: 23: 24: 25: 26: 27: 27: 28: 28) cm down to match the markers on the left sleeve. Work ** to *** as for the left sleeve.

LOWER EDGING

With Yarn B and 3 mm needles and with RS facing, pick up and knit 102 ( 108: 114: 120: 128: 134: 140: 146: 154: 160) sts along front hemline. Work in g st for 4cm. Rep for the back.

MAKING UP

Sew side and sleeve seams to top of hem edging, leaving hem edging open. Weave in ends and block gently to measuremen­ts.
