GLASS BAUBLE BAUBLE
Make Basic Elf, using Pumpkin as suit shade and Denim as Collar shade, but do not attach hanging loop.
(MAKE 1 PIECE) Cast on 12 sts using White Gold Metallic yarn for top edge of collar and K 3 rows. P 2 rows. Change to Icicle and continue in st st. P 1 row. Inc row 1 Inc into every st to end. [24 sts] Work in st st for 3 rows. Inc row 2 (Inc 1, K1) to end. [36 sts] Work in st st for 5 rows. Inc row 3 (K1, inc 1, K1) to end. [48 sts] P 1 row. Work zigzag pattern: use a ball of yarn for each colour and strand yarn not in use loosely across purl side of work. Next row (K1 Royal, K1 Icicle) to end. Next row Purl using Royal. Change to Emerald and work in st st for 2 rows. Continue in Royal and work in st st for 6 rows. Dec row 1 (K1, k2tog, K1) to end. [36 sts] Work in st st for 3 rows. Dec row 2 (K1, k2tog) to end. [24 sts] P 1 row. Dec row 3 K2tog to end. [12 sts] Break yarn, leaving a long end. Thread through sts on needle, draw up tightly and fasten off.
TO MAKE UP
Starting at gathered base edge, join Bauble seam, stopping 2.5cm away from gold Collar. Stuff firmly, then join rest of seam. Use tweezers to stuff Collar, then work a gathering thread through every stitch along cast- on edge, draw up tightly and fasten off. Coat in hairspray, form into shape and leave to set. Cover plastic ring by binding closely with White Gold Metallic yarn, securing ends of yarn with a spot of glue. Sew these ends into top of Collar, then sew ring securely in place with a few stitches. Position Bauble at side of Elf and sew to Body with a few stitches where it touches, then bend right Arm and sew hand to top of ring with a few stitches. Coat entire figure with hairspray, arrange in position and leave to set. Attach hanging loop to right hand in same manner as given for Basic Elf.
TINSEL
Make Basic Elf, using Grass as suit shade and Pumpkin as Collar shade.
TO MAKE UP
Coat elf with hairspray and arrange with Arms and Legs splayed out, leave to set. Sew one end of eyelash yarn or tinsel into top of hat. Dab with a spot of glue and draw this into knitting to secure, then trim away end to neaten. Wind tinsel once round Hat, then round Body, over left Arm and right hand, then round back of Legs and over left Leg to right Foot. Attach end of tinsel to right Foot in same manner as given for Hat, then hold tinsel in place to Legs, Arms and back of Hat with spots of glue.
