TENSION

Yarn used knits as aran to this tension: 19 sts and 30 rows to measure 10x10cm (4x4in) over moss stitch using 4 mm needles

For a full list see page 95 in the main magazine These pear dishcloths are super simple. They’re worked in moss stitch with increases and decreases on the sides to work them up into a pear shape. The delicate leaves are made in stocking stitch and attached to the top of the pears. Hanging loops, in the colour of stalks, complete these gorgeous dishcloths. You might think they’re too pretty to use and should be hanging on the wall as kitchen decoration­s. Well, so do we!

PEAR

Cast on 13 sts using 4 mm needles and either Yarn A or B. Working in moss st, proceed as follows: Row 1 (RS), K1, *P1, K1; rep from * to end. Row 2 Cast on 3 sts, *P1, K1; rep from * to end. [16 sts] Last 2 rows form moss st, keeping cont of moss st, proceed as follows: Rows 3–5 Cast on 3 sts, patt to end. [25 sts] Rows 6–13 Cast on 1 st, patt to end. [33 sts at end of row 13] Rows 14–32 Work even in patt. Rows 33– 40 Cast off 1 st, patt to end. [25 sts at end of row 40] Rows 41–50 Work even in patt. Rows 51–54 Cast off 1 st, patt to end. [21 sts at end of row 54] Rows 55–56 Work even in patt. Rows 57– 60 Cast off 1 st, patt to end. [17 sts at end of row 60] Rows 61– 64 Cast off 2 sts, patt to end. [9 sts at end of row 64] Row 65 Work even in patt. Cast off and weave in ends.

LEAF

Cast on 3 sts using 4 mm needles and Yarn C. Row 1 (RS) (K1, yo) twice, K1. [5 sts] Row 2 and all alt rows Purl. Row 3 K2, yo, K1, yo, K2. [7 sts] Row 5 K3, yo, K1, yo, K3. [9 sts] Row 7 K4, yo, K1, yo, K4. [11 sts] Row 9 K5, yo, K1, yo, K5. [13 sts] Rows 11 & 13 Knit. Row 15 K5, s2kpo, K5. [11 sts] Row 17 K4, s2kpo, K4. [9 sts] Row 19 K3, s2kpo, K3. [7 sts] Row 21 K2, s2kpo, K2. [5 sts] Row 23 K1, s2kpo, K1. [3 sts] Row 25 S2kpo. [1 st] Fasten off, sew Leaf to top of Pear and weave in ends.

HANGING LOOP

Cast on 15 sts using 4 mm needles and Yarn D. Cast off. Fold Loop in half, and sew to top of Pear, above the base of the Leaf.
