YOU WILL NEED Q Rico Design, Magic Mohair (34% polyester, 28% mohair, 28% polyamide, 50g/200m), 1 ball of 002 Q A pair of 4 mm needles Q A pair of 5mm needles For yarn stockists contact Rico Design www.rico-design.de TENSION Yarn used knits as aran to this tension: 19 sts and 28 rows to measure 10x10cm (4x4in) over st st using 5mm needles MEASUREMEN­TS 18cm (7in) diameter by 18cm (7in) tall (excluding handles) ABBREVIATI­ONS For a full list see page 95 Quash those big-night- out shopping frustratio­ns with a homemade accessory. This bag is knitted in Rico Design Luxury Magic Mohair and is super soft and sparkly too. It’s ideal for stashing away a purse, phone, make-up and more the vintage- glam way. The handles and bag are worked in one piece, keeping all your seaming and making up to a minimum. BAG Cast on 5 sts using 4 mm needles. Work increases for the bag bottom in g st as follows: Set up row ( WS) Knit. Row 1 (RS) K1, (M1, K1) 4 times. [9 sts] Row 2 Knit. Row 3 K1, *M1, K1: rep from * to end. [17 sts] Row 4 Knit. Row 5 K1, *M1, K1; rep from * to end. [33 sts] Row 6 Knit. Row 7 *(K1, M1, K1) twice, (M1, K1) twice; rep from * to last 3 sts, K1, (M1, K1) twice. [55 sts] Row 8, 9 and 10 Knit. Row 11 K1, (M1, K1) 24 times, K3, M1, K3, (M1, K1) 24 times. [104 sts] Row 12 Knit. Change to 5mm needles and work in st st until st st section measures 12cm, ending with a WS row. Change to 4 mm needles and work in g st until top section measures 3cm, ending with a WS row. WORK FIRST PART OF LONG HANDLE ** Next row (RS) Cast off 12 sts, (K1, sl 1 purlwise wyib) 6 times, K1, turn and put the rem sts onto a holder. Cont to work on last 14 sts only. Next row ( WS) Sl 1 purlwise wyif, P to end. Next row (RS) *Sl 1 purlwise wyib, K1; rep from * to end. Rep the last 2 rows until handle measures 18cm, ending with a RS row. Cast off on the WS.** WORK SECOND PART OF LONG HANDLE With RS facing, join the yarn nearest the long handle. Work ** to ** as for the first long handle. WORK FIRST PART OF SHORT HANDLE With RS facing, join the yarn nearest the last long handle. *** Next row (RS) Cast off 12 sts, (K1, sl1 purlwise wyib) 6 times, K1, turn and put the rem sts onto a holder. Cont on last 14 sts only.

Next row ( WS) Sl1 purlwise wyif, P to end. Next row (RS) *Sl1 purlwise wyib, K1: rep from * to end. Rep the last 2 rows until handle measures 10cm, ending with a RS row. Cast off on the WS.*** WORK SECOND PART OF SHORT HANDLE With RS facing, join the yarn nearest the long handle. Work *** to *** as for the first long handle. TO MAKE UP Block st st sections and handles lightly. Sew side seams together matching g st and st st sections. Sew the ends of the long handles together. Sew the ends of the short handles together. Weave in ends.
