Fair Isle & cable jumper

The pure wool in this colourwork and cables combo makes it one to wear all year round.

- Siân Brown “The idea for this design was to combine Fair Isle colourwork and relaxed cabled s!tches to create an easy-to-wear jumper. Inspired by spring, I chose "esh and bright shades." By Siân Brown.

Use a cable needle to twist stitches around each other, and follow our clear Fair Isle Chart (see opposite) to knit the colourful yoke. We’ve gone for bright spring shades, but this number would also be gorgeous in a nautical mix for summer.

Note When working from the Fair Isle Chart, strand the colour not in use across the WS of the work. Where you need to carry the yarn not in use across more than 3 sts, you may find you get a better tension if you catch the float at the back of the work by twisting it together with the main colour, but it’s worth swatching to see if this works for you. If you use this method, don’t catch the yarn at the same point in consecutive rows, as it may show through to the RS of the work. When working from the Fair Isle Chart, work in st st throughout.
