Simply Knitting

Simple bunny beanie

Banish a dreary day with a fabulous bunny hat. Ann Franklin’s knit is quick, easy and Easter-ready.

-

If you like topping off your outfit with a hat that makes you smile, then this sweet, bunny- eared beaut has your name on it. Two- part ears are added to a basic beanie shape, with everything worked in stocking stitch (apart from the rib at the bottom, of course). Spare aran yarn knocking about in your stash? Gather together white, grey or beige, pink or peach and cast on your own creation to add a splash of hilarity to your family’s Easter holidays!

TO MAKE UP

Sew the back seam. With RS facing, join one Inner Ear to one Outer Ear along the two shaped edges. Note that the Outer Ear will need to be slightly eased to fit the Inner Ear. Turn to the right side and join the two cast- on edges together. Flatten the Hat with the seam at the centre- back to find the side edges of the Hat. Sew the cast- on edges of the Ears across the side edges of the Hat, parallel to the cast- on edge of the main Hat, placing the Ears level with the fourth decrease row. Weave in ends and block gently over a balloon. OBSESSED WITH HATS? CHECK OUT OUR BUTTERFLY OPTION NEXT MONTH. ISSUE 171 IS ON SALE THURS 22 MARCH.
