In the loop
Your fabulous knitting tales.
FANCY FLIPPERS
My Mr Penguin (Chilly Charlie from issue 167) is made with DK yarn, as I could not nd the 4ply locally. I think he turned out quite well! The red and black are James C. Brett Twinkle, but the white and yellow are small odds and ends from my stash – I knitted him on 3.75mm needles. His black sparkles just as he would fresh out of the sea! Alison Hawkins, via Facebook
SUPER-SIZED SOCK
Anybody looking for a little laugh? I haven’t made socks before and after my rst time I think these might be meant for Jack and the Beanstalk, haha! I followed a Sirdar pattern (No. 9764) and used their Babouska yarn. Julia Crosbie, via Facebook
A HERD OF HEDGIES
This is what I did with the Hedgie the Hedgehog pincushion pattern (from issue 161)! I have put some of them on keyrings and used some as pincushions. Ann Murray, via Facebook
LITTLE SWEETIE
I nished knitting one of the elves from the Alan Dart Tree Trimmers patterns in issue 166, just in time to hang on my tree last Christmas. He was my absolute favourite of the bunch – so cute! Shirley Turner, via Facebook
NEW SKILLS
I got my subscription copy yesterday and started the free gift today. It was the rst time I’ve ever done something on a small scale. I’m not fully happy with how I put it all together and the heart could be a little less… lopsided, but it’s cute and my tape measure is de nitely going to stay warm! I like that it’s not something I’ve ever done before and as I’m still learning new techniques, it’s great to nish something and see the results quickly. Emily Baker, via Facebook
HANDY HEDGEHOG
I used the free tape measure cover kit and hedgehog pattern (from the woodland mobile) from issue 169 to make my own tape measure cover and pincushion. I love my little buddy! Bev Chance, via Facebook
CHIM CHIMNEY
I had fun recreating this old tradition, a chimney sweep on a horseshoe. It was such fun to make, too. I have made this to sell on my next charity stall, on 5 May. I raise money for our local hospice and am always coming up with new ideas that take our customers by surprise – many have become regular returners. I love a challenge and often like to show others how to make my designs during my knitting group, too. I am so lucky that I can pursue my hobby for such worthy causes and get to share my ideas and creations for others to make and enjoy. Thank you for such a great magazine and your interest in your readers. Sue Welland, via Facebook
BAND PRACTICE
Here is my One Man Band by Alan Dart (from issue 121), ready to serenade the winner of my charity Valentine’s Day raf!e. He is being raf!ed for the British Legion Poppy Appeal. I have knitted poppies for the last "ve years and have raised £3,500 so far. I’m going to knit for the appeal all year this time, to celebrate the 100 years since the end of the First World War. I’m very fortunate to work with my daughter, who has her own diet and "tness business (DME Fitness). We have around 250 members who support me by buying raf!e tickets and also by buying any knitted items that I make. Sandra Eccleston, via Facebook
STORYTIME
Here are the "nger puppets from issue 168 that I made for my granddaughter’s rhyme time – she loves them. Thank you for the pattern. I made a set for our local library’s rhyme time, in Polegate, as well. Helen Stiles, via Facebook
