You only need one colour per row (you heard us!) to knit this beauty.

Would you like to know a secret about this stunning cushion? It’s incredibly easy to knit! All you need to do is slip the cream stitches and change colours at regular intervals to create the beautiful honeycomb effect. When your visitors are compliment­ing you on such a beautiful project you needn’t let them in on how simple it is to make!

Notes Slip all sts purlwise. When slipping 2 sts, these can be slipped together to speed things up! The cushion cover is easily adjusted to! fit different size pads – cast on a multiple of 6 sts plus an extra 4 sts (for symmetry), and work patt as given below, but note that the buttonhole row will also need to be adjusted (add 1 st between the buttonhole­s for every 6 extra!sts).

CUSHION COVER

Cast on 94 sts using 3¾mm needles and Yarn A. Knit 4 rows. Rows 1 and 2 Knit. Change to Yarn B. Row 3 (RS) K1, *sl2, K4; rep from * to last 3 sts, sl2, K1. Row 4 P1, *sl2, P4; rep from * to last 3 sts, sl2, P1. Row 5 K1, *sl2, K4; rep from * to last 3 sts, sl2, K1. Row 6 P1, *sl2, P4; rep from * to last 3 sts, sl2, P1.

Change to Yarn A. Rows 7 and 8 Knit.

Change to Yarn C. Row 9 K4, *sl2, K4; rep from * to end. Row 10 P4, *sl2, P4; rep from * to end. Row 11 K4, *sl2, K4; rep from * to end. Row 12 P4, *sl2, P4; rep from * to end.

Change to Yarn A. Rows 1–12 form patt. Continue until work measures 85cm, ending with either Row 6 or Row 12 of the pattern. Knit 4 rows. Next row (buttonhole row) K10, *yo, k2tog, K16; rep from * to last 12 sts, yo, k2tog, K10. Knit 4 rows. Cast off.

TO MAKE UP

Wrap the cover around on itself so that the buttonhole row overlaps the lower border. Sew up the side seams, overlappin­g the button and buttonhole bands. Sew on!the buttons to correspond with the buttonhole­s.
