Patchwork blanket

Take your work out on the road with you when you knit this garden-inspired blanket this spring. Constructed from individual squares which are stitched together, each one is easily packed away in a workbag to knit when you’re out and about. Add a simple garter-stitch border and you’re done!
ST ST SQUARE
(MAKE 15) Cast on 37 sts, leaving 30cm for sewing up, using 5mm needles and Yarn A. Beg with a K row, work 48 rows in st st. Cast off.
PATTERN SQUARE
(MAKE 15) Cast on 37 sts leaving 30cm for sewing up, using 5mm needles and Yarn B. Beg with a purl row, work 6 rows in st st. Row 1 (RS) P10, work across Row 1 of Chart, P10. Row 2 K10, work across Row 2 of Chart, K10. Rows 3-34 Work in patt as set by last 2 rows to end of Chart. Beg with a purl row, work 8 rows in st st. Cast off.
SIDE EDGINGS
Block all squares gently, following any instructions on the ball band. Join alternating squares together to form a rectangle, 5 squares wide by 6 squares deep. With RS facing, using a 4 mm circular needle and Yarn A, pick up and knit 216 sts along side edge. Next row K to end. Next row K1, M1, K to last st, M1, K1. [2 sts inc’d] Rep the last 2 rows 5 times more. [228 sts] Cast off on WS. Repeat on other side edges.
TOP EDGING
With RS facing, using a 4 mm circular needle and Yarn A, pick up and knit 175 sts along cast- off edge. Next row K to end. Next row K1, M1, K to last st, M1, K1. [2 sts inc’d] Rep the last 2 rows 5 times more. [187 sts] Cast off.
BOTTOM EDGING
With RS facing, using 4 mm circular needle, pick up and knit 175 sts along cast- on edges. Work to match Top Edging.
FINISHING
Join corners. Weave in ends.
