Simply Knitting

Simple stripy hat

Give simple stripes a clever twist to create this striking hat by Woolly Wormhead.

Knock out a bonce warmer!

This sweet hat is a radical idea in disguise, turning a basic knitting rule on its head. Changing colours on the purl row, rather than the knit, creates the bumps of contrasting shades in each stripe. It’s a simple tweak that gives the entire project a fresh new look.

Cast on 84 ( 96: 108: 120) sts using Yarn A. Join to work in the round, taking care not to twist sts. Place stitch marker to indicate start of round. Round 1 *K1tbl, P1; rep from * to end of round. ( This sets 1x1 twisted rib.) Rep Round 1 until Rib meas 2.5cm.

BODY

Weave in all ends. A gentle wash and blocking is required to help the decrease lines settle in and lie flat.
