Grab a couple of 9mm needles and super chunky yarn and cast on this home delight! Chloe Webster’s quick and easy slip stitch pattern will soon have you ready to dress your living room with a new project. Once completed, toss your knit onto a sad-looking sofa or lonely armchair and turn it into everyone’s favourite place to chill out after a stressful day.

CUSHION FRONT

(MAKE 1) Cast on 50 sts using 9mm needles.

Row 1 (WS) Purl.

Row 2 K1, sl 1, *sl 1, K4, sl 1; rep from * to last 2 sts, sl 1, K1.

Row 3 P1, sl 1, *sl 1, P4, sl 1; rep from * to last 2 sts, sl 1, P1.

Row 4 K1, sl 1, *sl 1, K4, sl 1; rep from * to last 2 sts, sl 1, K1.

Row 5 P1, sl 1, *sl 1, P4, sl 1; rep from * to last 2 sts, sl 1, P1.

Row 6 K2, *C3F, C3B; rep from * to last 2 sts, K2.

Row 7 Purl.

Row 8 K2, *K2, sl 2, K2; rep from * to last 2 sts, K2.

Row 9 P2, *P2, sl 2, P2; rep from * to last 2 sts, P2.

Row 10 K2, *K2, sl 2, K2; rep from * to last 2 sts, K2.

Row 11 P2, *P2, sl 2, P2; rep from * to last 2 sts, P2.

Row 12 K2, *C3B, C3F; rep from * to last 2 sts, K2.

Rows 1 to 12 set pattern.

Repeat these 12 rows until work measures 38cm.

Cast off.

TOP BACK OF CUSHION

(MAKE 1)

Cast on 38 sts using 9mm needles. Row 1 (WS) Purl.

Row 2 Knit.

Repeat these 2 rows 13 times until 26 rows have been worked. **

Knit garter stitch buttonhole band as follows:

Row 1 (WS) Knit.

Row 2 K8, *cast off 2 sts, K until there are 8 sts on RH needle; rep from * end. Row 3 *K8, turn work and cast on 2 sts, turn work; rep from * to last 8 sts, K8. Knit 2 rows.

Cast off.

BOTTOM BACK CUSHION

(MAKE 1)

Work as for Top Back of Cushion to ** Knit garter st button band as folls: Knit 5 rows.

Cast off.

TO MAKE UP

Attach the two halves of the Back at the button and buttonhole band edges, making sure the buttonhole­s are on top. Place the Front and Back together with RS facing and sew all four edges. Turn out and attach three buttons to the button band to correspond with the buttonhole­s. Weave in ends and gently block to measuremen­ts, following instructio­ns on the ball band.
