Striped lace cardigan

Calming summer colours with a pleasing marled effect make for a gorgeous knit. Worked in Stylecraft Batik DK, this light yarn is perfect for summer days boating at the lake, planting seeds in the garden or taking a stroll around the shops. We love the surprise lace panel at the back and you’ll be pleased to hear it comprises only four rows, each with a simple pattern repeat. The 1x1 cuffs are super soft on the wrist and make for a fabulously comfy fit all round. Stick with our two-shade knit or pick out a pretty combination of your own colours, and cast on a summer staple you’ll wear over and over.
BACK
Cast on 99 (105: 111: 117: 123: 129: 135: 141: 147: 153) sts using 3 mm needles and Yarn A.
Work in 1x1 rib as follows:
Row 1 (RS) K1, *P1, K1; rep from * to end. Row 2 P1, *K1, P1; rep from * to end. Rep these 2 rows until work measures 4cm, ending with a WS row.
Change to 4mm needles and work the following decrease row:

Work in Lace Patt as follows. Note that the first row is a WS row.
Row 1 (WS) Purl. Row 2 (RS) K0 (0: 2: 2: 2: 2: 1: 1: 1: 0), *K1, yo, ssk, K1, k2tog, yo; rep from * to last 1 (1: 3: 3: 3: 3: 2: 2: 2: 1) sts, K to end.
Row 3 Purl.
Row 4 K0 (0: 2: 2: 2: 2: 1: 1: 1: 0), *K1, yo, s2kpo, yo, K2; rep from * to last 1 (1: 3: 3: 3: 3: 2: 2: 2: 1) sts, K to end.
Rep these 4 rows till work measures 37 (38: 38: 38: 38: 38: 38: 39: 39: 39)cm, ending with a WS row.
Change to st st (K on the RS and P on the WS) and work the following increase row: Inc row (RS) K7 (6: 5: 4: 7: 5: 6: 4: 7: 4), *M1, K11 (12: 10: 11: 11: 12: 10: 11: 11: 10): rep from * to last 7 (7: 6: 4: 7: 6: 7: 4: 7: 5) sts, M1, K to end.
