Sweet apple cosy

APPLE COSY Note Hold 2 strands of yarn together throughout. APPLE HALF (MAKE 2) Cast on 6 sts onto 3.75mm needles using Yarn A.

Row 1 *Kfb; rep from * to end. [12 sts]

Distribute 12 sts evenly on DPNs. Join into the round, making sure not to twist the sts. PM to mark beg of round.

Round 2 *Kfb, K1; rep from * to end. [18 sts]

Round 3 and all odd rounds to Round 13 Knit.

Round 4 *K1, M1, K2; rep from * to end. [24 sts]

Round 6 *K1, M1, K3; rep from * to end. [30 sts]

Round 8 *K1, M1, K4; rep from * to end. [36 sts]

Round 10 *K1, M1, K5; rep from * to end. [42 sts]

Round 12 *K1, M1, K6; rep from * to end. [48 sts]

Round 14 *K1, M1, K7; rep from * to end. [54 sts]

Rounds 15 to 19 Knit. Round 20 Purl. Round 21 Knit. Round 22 Purl. Cast off. Weave in ends. Make a second Apple Half, but when 1 st remains, place onto crochet hook. JOINING APPLE HALVES Insert hook into the outer loop of the cast-off edge of the other Apple Half, yo, and pull through 2 loops. With 1 loop on the hook, *insert hook into the outer loop of the cast-off edge of both halves, yo, and pull through; rep from * 7 times more for a total of 9 joins. Fasten off, break yarn and weave in ends. STEM Cast on 3 sts onto 3.75mm needles using Yarn C.

Using 2 DPNs, *K3, slide to other end of needle without turning work; rep from * until i-cord meas 7.5cm. Break yarn and pull through live sts. Work in end on this end of the stem only. Create a large knot in the other end of the i-cord. Insert the end of the i-cord that does not have the knot through the hole at the top of an Apple Half. The large knot will keep it from pulling through. On the inside, sew stem in place using the tail at that end of the i-cord. LEAF Cast on 3 sts onto 3.75mm needles using Yarn B.

Row 1 Kfb, K1, kfb. [5 sts]

Row 2 Sl 1, K to end.

Row 3 Sl 1, kfb, P1, kfb, K1. [7 sts]

Row 4 Sl 1, K to end.

Row 5 Sl 1, K2, P1, K3.

Row 6 Sl 1, K to end.

Rows 7 to 12 Rep Rows 5 to 6 three times more.

Row 13 Sl 1, ssk, P1, K2tog, K1. [5 sts]

Row 14 Sl 1, K to end.

Row 15 Ssk, P1, k2tog. [3 sts]

Row 16 Sl 1, K to end.

Row 17 Sl 1, k2tog, psso. [1 st]

Break yarn and pull through rem st. Work in this tail only. Use the other tail to sew Leaf to the base of the Stem. Make sure that the ridge in the centre of the Leaf faces up.
