Note The relative proportions of the planets are not accurate to scale. When you assemble the mobile, you may have to vary the lengths of invisible string and where on the individual arms you position them, in order to get the planets to balance equally.
MERCURY
Cast on 10 sts using 2.75mm needles and Yarn A.
Rows 1 to 10 Knit.
Break yarn, draw through sts, pull tightly and fasten off.
With the fastened-off yarn end, seam body, stuff, work a gathering thread along the cast-on edge and draw up tightly.
VENUS
Cast on 12 sts using 2.75mm needles and Yarn B.
Rows 1 to 10 St st, starting with a purl (WS) row.
Break yarn, draw through sts, pull tightly and fasten off.
With the fastened-off yarn end, seam body, stuff, work a gathering thread along the cast-on edge and draw up tightly.
EARTH
Cast on 10 sts using 2.75mm needles and Yarn D.
Row 1 (WS) Purl.
Row 2 (Kfb) in each st to end. [20 sts]
Change to Yarn C. Do not break Yarn D.
Row 3 Purl.
Row 4 (K1, kfb) to end. [30 sts]
Rows 5 to 19 Work from Chart in st st, starting with a purl (WS) row. Work RS (K) rows from right to left and WS (P) rows from left to right.
Row 20 (K1, k2tog) to end. [20 sts]
Row 21 Purl.
Row 22 (K2tog) to end. [10 sts]
Break yarn, draw through sts, pull tightly and fasten off.
