SWEET SNOWMAN
Our cheery snowman is filled with wonderful detail, from his gingham scarf and twig broom to his holly-trimmed hat
SNOWMAN HEAD
Cast on 5 sts using 3mm needles and Yarn B. Row 1 (RS) *Kfb; rep from * to end. [10 sts] Row 2 Purl.
Row 3 *Kfb; rep from * to end. [20 sts]
Row 4 Purl.
Row 5 *Kfb, K1; rep from * to end. [30 sts] Work 8 rows in st st, beg with a purl row.
Row 14 *P2tog, P1; rep from * to end. [20 sts] Row 15 Knit.
Row 16 *P2tog; rep from * to end. [10 sts]
Row 17 Knit.
Row 18 *P2tog; rep from * to end. [5 sts]
Cast off.
Sew the side edges together. Attach eyes firmly, referring to photograph, then stuff the Head moulding to the desired shape.
NOSE
Cast on 3 sts using 3mm needles and Yarn D. Work 2 rows in st st, beg with a knit row.
Row 3 Sk2po. [1 st]
Cast off.
Fashion the Nose into a carrot shape and attach to the face.
BODY
Note Begin at the base.
Cast on 5 sts using 3mm needles and Yarn B. Row 1 (RS) *Kfb; rep from * to end. [10 sts]
Row 2 Purl.
Row 3 *Kfb; rep from * to end. [20 sts]
Work 2 rows in st st, beg with a purl row.
Row 6 *Kfb, P3; rep from * to end. [25 sts] Work 2 rows in st st, beg with a knit row.
Row 9 *Kfb, K4; rep from * to end. [30 sts]
Row 10 Purl.
Row 11 *Kfb, K5; rep from * to end. [35 sts]
Row 12 Purl.
Row 13 *Kfb, K6; rep from * to end. [40 sts] Work 2 rows in st st, beg with a purl row.
Row 16 *P2tog, P5; rep from * to last 5 sts, p2tog, P3. [34 sts]
Row 17 Knit.
Row 18 *P2tog, P5; rep from * to last 6 sts, p2tog, P4. [29 sts]
Row 19 Knit.
Row 20 *P2tog, P2; rep from * to last st, P1. [22 sts]
Row 21 *K2tog, K1; rep from * to last st, K1.

Sew Body side edges together and carefully stuff. Attach Head to Body.
ARMS (MAKE 2)
Cast on 3 sts using 3mm needles and Yarn B. Row 1 (RS) *Kfb; rep from * to end. [6 sts] Row 2 P2, kfb, P3. [7 sts]
Work 12 rows in st st, beg with a knit row.
Row 15 K2tog, K3, k2tog. [5 sts]
Cast off.
Attach the Arms to Body sides, referring to the photograph for guidance.
HAT
Cast on 5 sts using 3mm needles and Yarn A. Row 1 (RS) *Kfb; rep from * to end. [10 sts]
Row 2 Purl.
Row 3 *Kfb, K1; rep from * to end. [15 sts] Work 8 rows in st st, beg with a purl row.
Row 12 *Kfb, P1; rep from * to last st, kfb. [23 sts] Row 13 Knit.
Row 14 *Kfb, P1; rep from * to last st, kfb. [35 sts] Work 6 rows in st st, beg with a knit row.
Cast off.
FINISHING
1 Sew the side edges of the Hat together and decorate it with a tiny holly berry leaf.
2 Attach Hat, securing with a couple of sewing stitches, referring to the photograph.
3 Cut a strap of red gingham fabric and tie it around the neck.
4 Attach red buttons to front.
5 To make the broom, cut some Yarn C strands measuring 3cm and attach them to the twig.
