GEOMETRIC CUSHION BACK

Cast on 78 sts with Yarn D.

Row 1 (RS) *K1, P1; rep from * to end. Row 2 *P1, K1; rep from * to end. Repeat until 5 rows have been worked. Row 6 Purl.

Change to Yarn A and work in st st until Back measures 30cm from cast-on edge, ending with a WS row.

Next row (RS) Purl to mark turn.

FRONT

Continue with Yarn A.

Starting with a WS row, work 19 rows in st st. Change to Yarn C and work 2 rows st st.

START CHART

Work in intarsia, reading RS rows right to left, and WS rows left to right. Change colour as indicated on the Chart and twist yarn to avoid holes.

Row 1 (RS) Knit Row 1 Chart.

Row 2 Purl Row 2 of Chart.

Continue until the 15 rows of the Chart have been worked.

Change to Yarn C and work 2 rows in st st. Change to Yarn A and work 18 rows in st st. Change to Yarn C and work 2 rows in st st.

Repeat the 15 rows of the Chart once more. (Note that Row 1 of chart will be a WS row this time.)

Change to Yarn C and work 2 rows st st. Continue with Yarn A, work 18 rows st st.

Next row (RS) Purl to mark turn.

OVERLAP

Continue in st st until Overlap measures 10cm from turn row. Check that the sts on the needle sit just above the cast-on row, if not adjust until they do, ending with a WS row.

Change to Yarn D.

BUTTONHOLE BAND

Row 1 *K1, P1 rep from * to end.

Row 2 *P1, K1 rep from * to end.

Row 3 (buttonhole row) Commence with a knit st, moss st 6, (k2tog, yo, moss st 14) four times, k2tog, yo, moss st 6. Row 4 Rep Row 2.

Row 5 Rep Row 1.

Cast off.

MAKING UP

Sew in ends. Block and press under a damp cloth to size. Sew the side seams. Sew on the buttons to correspond with the buttonhole­s.
