PANSY BRO0CH PETALS

Begin at the centre of the flower.

Cast on 3 sts, using 3mm needles and Yarn E. Row 1 (RS) (Kfb) to end. [6 sts]

Row 2 Purl.

Change to Yarn A. Work the first 2 sts only, leaving 4 sts on the needle.

Row 3 (Kfb) to end. [4 sts]

Row 4 (Kfb) to end. [8 sts]

Continue working these sts only, the outer sts will be worked in Yarn B and the central sts will be worked in Yarn A.

When changing colour, twist the yarn to prevent holes.

Row 5 K1 in B, K6 in A, K1 in B. [8 sts]

Row 6 Kfb in B, P2, (kfb) twice, P2 in A, kfb in B. [12 sts] Row 7 K3 in B, K6 in A, K3 in B. [12 sts]

Row 8 P4 in B, P4 in A, P4 in B. [12 sts]

Row 9 K2tog, K3 in B, K2 in A, K3, k2tog in B. [10 sts] Continuing with Yarn B only:

Row 10 P2tog, P6, p2tog. [8 sts]

Row 11 K2tog, K4, k2tog. [6 sts]

Row 12 P2tog, P2, p2tog. [4 sts]

Cast off.

Return to the 4 held sts, continue knitting the central 2 sts only with Yarn A:

Row 3 (Kfb) to end. [4 sts]

Row 4 (Kfb) to end. [8 sts]

Continue working on these stitches only, the outer sts will be worked in Yarn B and the central sts will be worked in Yarn A. Row 5 K1 in B, K6 in A, K1 in B. [8 sts]

Row 6 Kfb in B, (kfb) twice, P2, (kfb) twice in A, kfb in B. [14 sts] Row 7 K1, kfb in B, K4, (kfb) twice, K4 in A, kfb, K1 in B. [18 sts] Row 8 P3 in B, P12 in A, P3 in B. [18 sts]

Row 9 K2tog, K2 in B, K10 in A, K2, k2tog in B. [16 sts]

Row 10 P2tog, P3 in B, P6 in A, P3, p2tog in A. [14 sts]

Row 11 K2tog, K3 in B, K4 in A, K3, k2tog in A. [12 sts]

Continue with Yarn B only:

Row 12 P2tog, P8, p2tog. [10 sts]

Row 13 K2tog, K2, k2tog, K2, k2tog. [7 sts] Cast off.

Working the final two held sts with Yarn A:

Row 3 (Kfb) to end. [4 sts]

Row 4 (Kfb) to end. [8 sts]

Row 5 K1 in B, K6 in A, K1 in B. [8 sts]

Row 6 Kfb in B, P2, (kfb) twice, P2 in A, kfb in B. [12 sts] Row 7 K3 in B, K6 in A, K3 in B. [12 sts]

Row 8 P4 in B, P4 in A, P4 in B. [12 sts]

Row 9 K2tog, K3 in B, K2 in A, K3, k2tog in B. [10 sts] Continue with Yarn B:

Row 10 P2tog, P6, p2tog. [8 sts]

Row 11 K2tog, K4, k2tog. [6 sts]

Row 12 P2tog, P2, p2tog. [4 sts]

Cast off.

Note To be placed behind those already worked. Cast on 10 sts using 3mm needles and Yarn D. Row 1 (RS) Kfb, K8, kfb. [12 sts]

Row 2 Kfb, P10, kfb. [14 sts]

Row 3 Kfb, K12, kfb. [16 sts]

Row 4 Kfb, P14, kfb. [18 sts]

Row 5 Kfb, K6, kfb, K2, kfb, K6, kfb. [22 sts] Row 6 P9, (kfb) 4 times, P9. [26 sts]

Row 7 Kfb, K24, kfb. [28 sts]

Row 8 Purl.

Cont knitting the first 14 sts only, leaving the last 14 sts on needle. Row 9 K14.

Row 10 P2tog, P10, p2tog. [12 sts]

Row 11 Knit.

Row 12 P2tog, P8, p2tog. [10 sts]

Row 13 K2tog, K6, k2tog. [8 sts]

Row 14 P2tog, P4, p2tog. [6 sts]

Cast off.

Return to the last 14 sts held on the needle, repeat Rows 9 to 14 and then cast off.

Attach this petal to the rear of the other petals, using the photograph as a guide to placement.

Row 14 K2tog, K7, k2tog. [9 sts]

Row 16 K2tog, K5, k2tog. [7 sts]

Row 20 K2tog, K1, k2tog. [3 sts]

Row 22 Sk2po. [1 st]

Fasten off.

FINISHING

Position leaf behind all petals, sew into place. Attach the brooch pin behind the leaf and petals.
