A GOOD YARN

A desire to teach, a passion for knitting and a yearning to celebrate creativity was all it took for this enthusiastic group to get together...

-

The group A Good Yarn formed when Adrienna Taylor approached the owner of a local creative studio and asked her if there was availability to host weekly knitting classes and a monthly social group. An interest in such a group quickly followed and the classes began in 2018, teaching three ladies to knit. Soon after the first lesson @AGoodYarn Facebook page was set up, and knit and natter social sessions were organised to meet once a month.

A TYPICAL SESSION

On a normal night, the group gathers round and discusses aspects of di erent patterns and techniques, supporting each other to work through problems and tricky techniques together. Between six and ten ladies come along each week and bring their various projects. They knit and natter and help each other out over a cup of tea and biscuits. A copy of Simply Knitting is always open on the table – the festive pattern for the Noelle Mouse from issue 178, proved to be very popular in particular!

KNIT AND NATTER

Originally built on a drive to share her knitting knowledge and experience with others, Adrienna has kept the group running. A lovely room is hired at The Vintage Sewing Bunny each month which is in the town of Lytham, St Annes. Skill levels and experience range from beginners to more advanced levels and those with years of experience. The ladies have recently been busy working on a variety of charity knits, usually for local charities and the neo-natal unit at their local hospital, donating knitted hats, blankets and comfort squares.
