HOODED WAISTCOAT
There are so many colours in the sea. We chose a few of our favourites! This pretty mohair vest is light and airy. The design is casual with a hood and kangaroo pocket. The fine blend of kid mohair and silk is available in a full palette of colours. Check it and choose!

Tension:

Rib patt: k1, p1. St st: k on RS, p on WS.
Cable insert: Worked over 15 sts according to chart. Numbers at right edge of chart indicate RS rows; on WS rows, work sts as they appear.
Work rows 1 – 8 five times.
Full-fashion dec: On RS row, selvage st, k2, k2tog, patt to last 5 sts, skp, k2, selvage st.
Back
Cast on 94 (102) 112 (122) sts. Work in rib patt until piece meas 4 cm from cast-on, ending with a WS row. Work in st st for 12 cm, ending with a WS row. Next row (RS): Selvage st, 16 (18) 21 (24) sts in St st, cable insert over next 15 sts, 30 (34) 38 (42) sts in st st, cable insert over next 15 sts, 16 (18) 21 (24) sts in st st, selvage st.
Cont in patt as established until rows 1 – 8 of cable insert chart have been worked five times. Work in St st across all sts until piece meas 38 cm from cast-on, ending with a WS row.
Shape armholes: Bind off 4 (5) 6 (7) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Working full-fashion dec, dec 1 st at each end of next 6 (7) 8 (9) RS rows = 74 (78) 84 (90) sts. Work even until armhole meas 20 (21,5) 23 (25) cm, ending with a WS row.
Shape shoulders and neck: At each shoulder edge, bind off 8 sts 3 times (9 sts twice, 8 sts once) 9 sts twice, 10 sts once (10 sts twice, 11 sts once). At same time, on first row of shoulder shaping, shape neck as foll: Bind off center 22 (22) 24 (24) sts. Working each side separately and working full-fashion dec, dec 1 st at each neck edge twice. No sts rem.
Left front
Cast on 47 (51) 56 (61) sts. Work in rib patt until piece meas 4 cm from cast-on, ending with a WS row. Work in st st for 12 cm, ending with a WS row. Next row (RS): Selvage st, 16 (18) 21 (24) sts in st st, cable insert over next 15 sts, 14 (16) 18 (20) sts in st st, selvage st. Cont in patt as established until rows 1 – 8 of cable panel chart have been worked five times. Work in st st across all sts until piece meas 38 cm from cast-on, ending with a WS row.
Shape armhole and V-neck: Shape armhole at right edge same as for back.
At same time, on first row of armhole shaping, shape V-neck as foll: Working full-fashion dec, dec 1 st at end of RS row once, then dec 1 st at end of every other RS row 12 (12) 13 (13) times. Work even until armhole meas 20 (21,5) 23 (24.5) cm, ending with a WS row. Shape shoulder at right edge same as for back. No sts rem.
Right front
Work same as left front, reversing all shaping and patt placement.
Sleeves
Cast on 42 (46) 50 (54) sts. Work in rib patt until piece meas 4 cm from cast-on, ending with a WS row. Work in St st and shape sleeve as foll: Inc 1 st at each end of 3rd row, then every 10th row 9 times (then every 8th row 11 times) then every 8th row 5 times, then every 6th row 8 times (then every 6th row 15 times) = 62 (70) 78 (86) sts. Work even until piece meas 44 (43) 42 (41) cm from cast-on, ending with a WS row.
Shape sleeve cap: Bind off 4 (5) 6 (7) sts at beg of next 2 rows, 2 sts at beg of next 2 (2) 4 (4) rows. Working full-fashion dec, dec 1 st at each end of next 15 (16) 16 (17) RS rows. Work 1 WS row. Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 2 (2) 4 (4) rows, 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Bind off rem 10 (14) 12 (16) sts.
Finishing
Pin pieces to measurements and block. Sew shoulder seams.
Front and neckband: With circular needle and beg at lower edge, pick up and k 80 sts along straight edge and 46 (49) 52 (55) sts along shaped edge of right front, 29 (29) 31 (31) sts along back neck edge, 46 (49) 52 (55) sts along shaped edge and 80 sts along straight edge of left front = 281 (287) 295 (301) sts. Work in rib patt for 1,5 cm, ending with a WS row.
Buttonhole row (RS): Patt over 6 sts, * [skp, yo] for buttonhole, patt over 12 sts; rep from * 5 more times, patt to end. Cont in rib patt until band meas 3 cm from pickup row. Bind off all sts in rib.
Sew in sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams. Sew on buttons.
