Needles:

Size 5 and 6 mm

Circular needle size 6 mm (40 cm) Tension:

14 sts in stockinett­e stitch with larger needles = 10 cm.

16 sts in lace and cable pattern with larger needles = 10 cm.

Stitch patterns:

Ribbing: * k2, p2 *, repeat * – * to end of row. On the wrong side rows, knit the knit sts and purl the purl sts. Lace and cable pattern: follow the chart and instructio­ns.

Ribbing in the round: * k2, p2 *, repeat * – *.

Back

Using the smaller needles cast on 74 (78) 84 (90) 96 sts and begin ribbing on the WS with p2 (–) k1, p2 (p2) p1, then * k2, p2 *, repeat * – * to end of row.

After 8 cm finish on a WS row and switch to the larger needles. Begin the lace and cable pattern at the middle of the piece on row 1 of chart I: k14 (16) 19 (22) 25, work section A (= 18–1 sts), section B (= 10+2 sts), section C (= 18–1 sts), k14 (16) 19 (22) 25. 74 (78) 84 (90) 96 sts still on the needles. Keep working 14 (16) 19 (22) 25 sts at both ends in stockinett­e st. Keep repeating rows 2–9 of the chart at sections A and C and rows 2–19 at section B.

When the piece measures 46,5 (47,5) 48,5 (49,5) 50,5 cm, place a marker (e.g. a piece of different coloured yarn) for the bottom of the armhole at both ends.

When the armhole measures 18 (19) 20 (21) 22 cm, on every other row bind off at both ends 3x 6 (6) 7 (8) 8 sts and 1x 5 (7) 6 (6) 9 sts for the shoulders.

Note: When the armhole measures 20,5 (21,5) 22,5 (23,5) 24,5 cm, bind off the middle 24 (24) 26 (26) 26 sts for the neckline. Work one side at a time. After two rows bind off 1x 2 sts at the neckline edge.

Knit the other side in the same manner.

Front

Work like back until the armhole measures 10,5 (11,5) 12,5 (13,5) 14,5 cm. Leave the middle 14 (14) 16 (16) 16 sts on hold for the neckline. Work one side at a time. On every other row bind off 2x3 sts and 1x1 st at the neckline edge.

Note: When the armhole measures 18 (19) 20 (21) 22 cm, on every other row bind off at both ends 3x 6 (6) 7 (8) 8 sts and 1x 5 (7) 6 (6) 9 sts for the shoulders.

Knit the other side in the same manner.

Sleeves

Using the smaller needles cast on 36 (36) 38 (38) 40 sts and begin ribbing on the WS with p1, k2 (p1, k2) p2, k2 (p2, k2) k1, then * p2, k2 *, repeat * – * to end of row. After 6 cm finish on a WS row and switch to the larger needles. Begin the lace and cable pattern at the middle of the piece on row 1 of chart II: k7 (7) 8 (8) 9, work the 21 st pattern (= 22–1 sts), k7 (7) 8 (8) 9. 1 st decreased, 35 (35) 37 (37) 39 sts on the needles.

Keep working 7 (7) 8 (8) 9 sts at both ends in stockinett­e st. Keep repeating rows 2–9 of the chart. Note: When the piece measures 10 (10) 12 (10) 12 cm, increase 1 st at both ends. Repeat the increases every 5 (4) 3,5 (3,5) 3 cm 6 (8) 9 (10) 11 more times = 49 (53) 57 (59) 63 sts. Work the increased sts in stockinett­e st.

When the piece measures 45 (46) 47 (48) 49 cm, bind off.

Knit the other sleeve in the same manner.

Finishing

Pin to measuremen­ts, mist on the wrong side and allow to dry. Sew the shoulder seams. Neckline edge: Place the sts you left on hold on the circular needle and pick up additional sts from the neckline edge for 104 (104) 104 (108) 108 sts in total. Start at one of the shoulders. Work ribbing in the round for 25 cm, then bind off in pattern.

Attach the sleeves following the red marks on the pattern.

Sew the side seams and sleeve seams.
