Sweater with zigzag border

Content: 100% organic wool.

50 g = 250 m.

9 (10) 10 balls col 106 Aqua Needles:

Circular needles size 2 and 3 mm (at least 80 cm)

Double pointed needles size 2 and 3 mm (if you don’t work with Magic Loop method)

2 cable needles for leaving stitches Tension:

Stocking stitch: 22 sts x 34 rows on needle size 2 mm = 10 cm. Zigzag pattern: 26 sts on needle size 3 mm = 1 repeat = 10 cm.

If there is only one figure, it applies to all sizes.

Abbreviati­ons:

Kfb: Knit front and back of the same stitch (two stitches out of one).

St st: Stocking stitch.

M: Stitch marker.

RM: Remove marker.

PM: Place marker. psso: pass slipped st over. k2tog: Knit 2 st together.

Rib pattern: k1 through the back loop, p1.

Zigzag pattern: See chart.

Body

Knitted in rounds.

Using circular needle 3 mm cast on 220 (240) 280 stitches (stitch count must be divisible by 20). Work 1 repeat (26 rows) according to knitting chart, continue with st st. In the 1st rd dec as follows: Knit together approx. each 5th and 6th (each 5th and 6th) each 6th and 7th st = 180 (200) 240 sts. PM at beginning of rnd.

Place a marker after 90 (100) 120 sts in a different colour. Continue working in rnds using needle 2 mm and st st, until body measures 26 (27) 28 cm. Decreases: For the armhole work in the next rnd as follows:

32-34: PM, k84, bind of 6 st, RM, k84, bind of 6 st, RM. Leave rem stitches on a cable needle.

36-38: PM, k94, bind of 6 st, RM, k94, bind of 6 st, RM. Leave rem stitches on a cable needle.

40-42: PM, k114, bind of 6 st, RM, k114, bind of 6 st, RM. Leave rem stitches on a cable needle.

Sleeves

Using double pointed knitting needles 3 mm cast on 46 (48) 50 sts. Work 24 rnds in rib pattern. Continue with needles 2 mm and st st in rnds.

PM at beginning of rnd in the 1st rnd for the underarm seam. Increases:

Kfb (= 2 sts out of one) in st before and after the marker in each 4th rnd until you have knitted 84 (88) 92 rnds – 27 (28) 29 cm. Continue knitting until work measures 32 (33) 34 cm from cast on.

Next rnd: Bind off last 3 sts, RM, bind off 3 sts, leave rem sts on a cable needle.

Work the 2nd sleeve the same way.

Joining parts

Starting with the body pick up all sts on circular needle 2 mm as follows:

Place RM. Knit all sts of the 1st (front) part of body until armhole, PM, knit all sts from the 1st sleeve, PM, knit all sts of the 2nd (back) part of body until armhole, PM, knit all sts from the 2nd sleeve. Continue in rnds and st st. For raglan slant dec alternatel­y at the stitch markers: Dec rnd: Slip RM, * k1, slip 1 st, k1, psso, k until 3 st before marker, k2tog, k1, slip marker, repeat from *. Rnd 1: Knit.

Rnd 2: Dec rnd.

Rnd 3 + 4: Knit.

Rnd 5: Dec rnd.

Repeat rnd 1–5 until you have knitted 60 rnds across all st.

Neck shaping

Bind off the middle 20 sts of the front.

Continue working rows in st st, working in all RS rows (in every 2nd row) raglan decreases, while you make decreases for neck shaping as follows:

1x 3 sts, 1x 2 sts, 1x 1 st. Continue knitting straight up until all front sts and all sleeve sts are decreased and only 3 raglan sts and all back sts are left.

Next rnd: Starting with the front side knit 110 (115) 120 sts from the neck rounding.

Continue in rnds and rib pattern and k tog each 4th and 5th st in the 1st rnd.

Work 2 more rnds in rib pattern, then bind off all sts.

Finishing

Close seams, sew in threads, dampen the sweater, then stretch to measuremen­t and let it dry.
