Project Linus UK is a Community Interest Company that gives knitted, crocheted and patchwork blankets to children aged 0-18 who are ill or experiencing di cult times, in order to provide them with a hug that they can keep. The blankets are made by a team of volunteers and distributed to local children.

SELFLESS VOLUNTEERS

Like many other charitable organisations, Project Linus relies on a team of passionate volunteer co-ordinators who organise craft and fundraising events across the UK, as well as liaising with and distributing quilts to local hospitals, children’s hospices, women’s refuges, foster carers, schools, bereavement services and other locations where support is given to children. Area co-ordinators also visit craft groups and shows to spread the

FESTIVAL FUN

It’s not all hard work though – every year a friendly challenge is set for the Festival of Quilts to see how many patchwork blocks can be made on a specific theme. Sewers can be as creative as they like and let their imagination run wild, or use the suggested pattern provided. This would be a great way to give a new craft a try, while helping your local community! Finished blocks are handed to your local co-ordinator, or the team on the stand at the festival. Once the festival is over, the squares are sewn into quilts. This year’s theme was stars, but don’t worry if you missed it as they’ll be announcing next year’s theme soon.

HOW CAN I HELP?

There are many ways to get involved and support this worthwhile cause – they are always on the lookout for volunteers to make blankets, help with distributing items and organise fundraisers.
