Pattern I: 8mm needles: 1 edge st, *p1, k2, p1*, rep from * to *, ending with 1 edge st (= p2, k2 rib). On subsequent rows work the sts as they appear.

Pattern II: 10mm needles: stocking st = RS k, WS p.

Pattern III: 6, 8 + 10mm needles: k1, p1.

Tip 1: Work the edge sts in pattern, when making up sew seams just half a stitch in from the edge.

Tip 2: Fully fashioned dec: Right edge = 1 edge st, (k1, p1) twice, k1, k2tog. Left edge = work to last 8 sts, sl1, k1, psso, k1, (p1, k1) twice, 1 edge st.

BACK

Cast on 86 (94) sts with 8mm needles.

Knit in pattern I.

After 6cm change to 10mm needles and knit in pattern II.

Armholes:

At a length of 33 (31)cm place a marker at each end of the row and continue knitting straight.

Shoulders:

At 20 (22)cm from markers, cast off at beg of every other row each side: 4 sts 3 times + 5 sts 4 times (4 sts once + 5 sts 6 times).

Neck:

At the same time, at 56cm from the cast-on edge, cast off the middle 20 (24) sts and then after 2 more rows, cast off 1 st at neck edge either side.

At the same time, at 33 (31)cm place a marker at the right edge.

Shoulder:

At 20 (22)cm from marker, cast off at the right edge: 4 sts 4 times + 5 sts 3 times (4 sts twice + 5 sts 5 times).

Continue over the rem 6 sts, work in pattern III for about 8 (9)cm, then leave sts.

RIGHT FRONT
