Rico Essentials Super Tweed super chunky.

Content: 50% wool, 50% acrylic. 100g = 90m.

3 (4) 5 balls – col 006 black (M) 3 (4) 5 balls – col 003 lilac (C)

Knitting needles: Size 10mm

Tension:

9 stitches and 12 rows to 10cm over stocking stitch on 10mm needles.

Check your tension – if less stitches use thinner needles, if more use thicker needles.

It is essential to work to the stated tension to achieve the correct size of garment.

Where only one figure is given, this applies to all sizes.

Where the figure 0 appears, no stitches, times or rows are worked for this size.

After casting off one stitch will remain on the right hand needle which is not included in the instructio­ns that follow.

BACK

Using 10mm needles, thumb method and M, cast on 39 (41) 45 stitches.

1st row. K1, *p1, k1, repeat from * to

end.

2nd row. *P1, k1, repeat from * to last stitch, p1.

These 2 rows set 1x1 rib. Continue in 1x1 rib until work measures 5cm, ending with a right side row.

Next row. Rib to end, increase 1 stitch in centre of row. 40 (42) 46 stitches.

Proceed as follows:

1st row. Knit.

2nd row. Purl.

These 2 rows set stocking stitch.

Working in stocking stitch (throughout) increase 1 stitch at each end of next and every following alternate row to 46 (48) 50 stitches.

Increase 1 stitch at each end of every following 4th row to 58 (60) 64 stitches.

Continue without shaping until work measures 55 (57) 59cm, ending with a wrong side row. Cast off.

LEFT FRONT

Using 10mm needles, thumb method and C, cast on 28 (30) 32 stitches.

1st row. *K1, p1, repeat from * to last 2 stitches, k2.

2nd row. *K1, p1, repeat from * to end.

1st and 2nd rows set rib. Continue in rib until work measures 5cm, ending with a right side row.

Next row. Rib to end, increase 1 stitch in centre of row for 1st size only. 29 (30) 32 stitches.

Proceed as follows:

1st row. Knit to last 3 stitches, p1, k2.

2nd row. K1, p1, k1, purl to end. 1st and 2nd rows sets stocking stitch and front border. Working in stocking stitch with front border (throughout) continue until work measures 55 (57) 59cm, ending with a wrong side row. Cast off.

RIGHT FRONT

Using 10mm needles, thumb method and C, cast on 28 (30) 32 stitches.

1st row. K2, *p1, k1, repeat from * to end.

2nd row. *P1, k1, repeat from * to end.

1st and 2nd rows set rib. Continue in rib until work measures 5cm, ending with a right side row.

Next row. Rib to end, increase 1 stitch in centre of row for 1st size only. 29 (30) 32 stitches. Proceed as follows:

1st row. K2, p1, knit to end.

2nd row. Purl to last 3 stitches, k1, p1, k1.

1st and 2nd rows sets stocking stitch and front border. Working in stocking stitch with front border (throughout) continue until work measures 55 (57) 59cm, ending with a wrong side row. Cast off.

RIGHT SLEEVE

Pattern note: When working with different balls of yarn the colour to be used should be twisted round the colour just used to link the colours together and avoid holes.

Using 10mm needles, thumb method and using M, cast on 20 (21) 22 stitches, using C cast on 20 (21) 22 stitches (40 (42) 44 stitches in total).

1st row. P0 (1) 0C, [k1C, p1C] 10 (10) 11 times, [k1M, p1M] 10 (10) 11 times, k0 (1) 0M.

2nd row. P0 (1) 0M, [k1M, p1M] 10 (10) 11 times, [k1C, p1C] 10 (10) 11 times, k0 (1) 0C.

Last 2 rows set rib.

Cont in rib until work measures 5cm, ending with a wrong side row.

Proceed as follows:

1st row. K20 (21) 22C, k20 (21) 22M.

2nd row. P20 (21) 22M, p20 (21)

22C.

1st and 2nd rows set pattern.

Keeping continuity of pattern as set (throughout) continue until work measures 30cm, ending with a wrong side row.

Cast off in pattern.

LEFT SLEEVE

(See pattern note on right sleeve) Using 10mm needles, thumb method and using C, cast on 20 (21) 22 stitches, using M cast on 20 (21) 22 stitches (40 (42) 44 stitches in total).

1st row. P0 (1) 0M, [k1M, p1M] 10 (10) 11 times, [k1C, p1C] 10 (10) 11 times, k0 (1) 0C.

2nd row. P0 (1) 0C, [k1C, p1C] 10 (10) 11 times, [k1M,p1M] 10 (10) 11 times, k0 (1) 0M.

Last 2 rows set rib.

Cont in rib until work measures 5cm, ending with a wrong side row.

Proceed as follows:

1st row. K20 (21) 22M, k20 (21) 22 C.

2nd row. P20 (21) 22C, p20 (21) 22

M.

1st and 2nd rows set pattern. Keeping continuity of pattern as set (throughout) continue until work measures 30cm, ending with a wrong side row.

Cast off in pattern.

FINISHING

Join shoulder seams. Fold sleeves in half lengthways, then placing sleeve top folds to shoulder seams, sew sleeves in position for approximat­ely 22 (23) 24cm, down from shoulder. Join sleeve and side seams. Block out garment to the measuremen­t given and place under damp cloths and leave until dry.
