TENSION
Yarn used knits as aran (or DK held double) to this tension: 18 sts and 23 rows to meas 10x10cm (4x4in) over st st using 6mm needles and yarn held double

17x9cm (7x3 in)
ABBREVIATIONS
K2A Knit 2 sts in Yarn A (K2B is K2 in Yarn B and so on for the other colours)
P2A Purl 2 sts in Yarn A (P2B is P2 in Yarn B and so on for the other colours)

SUNGLASSES CASE
Cast on 30 sts using 6mm needles and Yarn B held double.
Rows 1–6 Using Yarn B, knit.
Row 7 (RS) Using Yarn C, knit.
Row 8, 12, 18 & 22 Purl.
Row 9 K2C, (K2A, K2C) to end.
Row 10 P2C, (P2A, P2C) to end.
Row 11 Using Yarn C, knit.
Rows 13–16 Using Yarn B, knit.
Row 17 (RS) Using Yarn C, knit.
Row 19 K2C, (K2D, K2C) to end.
Row 20 P2C, (P2D, P2C) to end.
Row 21 Using Yarn C, knit.
Rows 23–25 Using Yarn B, knit. Break yarn. Slip sts to RH needle.
Rows 26–31 As rows 17–22.
Rows 32–35 Using Yarn B, knit.
Rows 36–41 As rows 7–12.
Rows 42–47 Using Yarn B, knit.
FLAP SHAPING
Rows 1 & 2 Ssk, K to last 2 sts, k2tog.
Row 3 Ssk, K3, cast off 2 sts, K11, cast off 2 sts, K4, k2tog.
Row 4 Ssk, K4, cast on 2 sts, K12, cast on 2 sts, K2, k2tog. [22 sts] Rep rows 1 & 2 once more.
Cast off.
COVERED BUTTONS
Cast on 5 sts using 3 mm needles and Yarn A held single.
Working in garter stitch, knit 1 row then inc 1 st at beg of next 6 rows. [11 sts] Work 3 rows straight.
Dec 1 st at beg of next 6 rows. [5 sts] Cast off leaving a long tail.
Use tail to work a running st around edge of cover. Place button lid in the centre, pull thread tight and secure. Position base and snap.
TO MAKE UP
Fold along the centre of the 3 rows in Yarn B. Join sides. Attach buttons.
