Rows 3 to 24 Cont to follow the Chart with 1 st in st st in Yarn A at each edge as set, until all 24 rows have been worked. Rows 25 to 29 Using Yarn A only, knit 5 rows. Cast off.

MAKING UP

1 Pin and sew the base and side seams.

2 Cut a circle of lining for the base, equal to the size of the base plus seam allowances. Cut a rectangle of lining for the main piece. Cut the same two pieces in wadding.

3 To make a neat edge to the inside of the container, lay the wadding for the side out flat and then place the fabric right side facing up, on top of the wadding. Fold about 1cm of the long side so no wadding is showing. Pin inside the container, just under the top, making the lining smaller than the container and easing it in place. Pin the side seam positions and remove from the container.

4 Pin the short edges of the main piece together to form a tube. Pin this piece to the circular base. Put inside the container to make sure that it fits. It is better if the lining is slightly smaller than the knitted piece so that it is eased in to prevent it being loose.

5 Sew the main pieces together at the short edges. Sew this piece onto the base. Place inside the container, pin and hand sew in place.
