Using Yarn B, work 2 rows in garter st.

Using Yarn A and beg with a knit row, work 4 rows in st st.

BACK

Cast on 16 (18: 20) sts using Yarn A. Rows 1 to 8 Knit.

BEGIN STRIPE PATTERN AND SHAPING

Row 9 (RS) Using Yarn B, cast on 2 sts, knit to end.

Row 10 (WS) Using Yarn B, cast on 2 sts, knit to end.

[20 (22: 24) sts]

Row 11 Using Yarn A, cast on 2 sts, knit to end.

Row 12 Using Yarn A, cast on 2 sts, purl to end. [24 (26: 28) sts] Row 13 Using Yarn A, cast on 2 sts, knit to end.

Row 14 Using Yarn A, cast on 2 sts, purl to end. [28 (30: 32) sts] Rows 15 to 20 Rep Rows 9-14 once more. [40 (42: 44) sts] Row 21 Using Yarn B, cast on 3 sts, knit to end.

Row 22 Using Yarn B, cast on 3 sts, knit to end. [46 (48: 50) sts] Row 23 Using Yarn A, cast on 1 (2: 3) sts, knit to end. Row 24 Using Yarn A, cast on 1 (2: 3) sts, purl to end.

[48 (52: 56) sts]

Cont in Stripe patt as set with no further shaping until work meas 21 (23: 25)cm from cast-on edge, ending after a WS row.

SHAPE ARMHOLES

Cont in Stripe patt throughout.

Cast off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows. [42 (46: 50) sts]

Cast off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows. [38 (42: 46) sts]

Dec row (RS) K1, ssk, knit to last 3 sts, k2tog, K1. [2 sts dec’d] Next row (WS) Work in patt.

Rep last 2 rows 1 (1: 2) more time(s). [34 (38: 40) sts]**

Patt straight until armhole measures 6 (7: 8)cm, ending after a WS row.

SHAPE BACK NECKLINE

Cut Yarn B and cont with Yarn A only.

Next row (RS) Knit 10 sts, cast off centre 14 (18: 20) sts, knit 10 sts. [10 sts for each strap]

LEFT BACK STRAP

Work in garter st (knit every row) until Strap meas 3cm.

Cast off.

RIGHT BACK STRAP

With WS facing, rejoin Yarn A to rem 10 sts.

Work in garter st until Strap meas 3cm to match first strap.

Cast off.

FRONT

Work as for Back to **. [34 (38: 40) sts]

Patt straight until armholes meas 4 (5: 6)cm, ending after a WS row.

SHAPE FRONT NECKLINE

Cut Yarn B and cont with Yarn A only.

Next row (RS) Knit 10 sts, cast off centre 14 (18: 20) sts, knit 10 sts. [10 sts for each strap]

Cont on last set of 10 sts for right strap, placing first set of 10 sts on hold.

RIGHT FRONT STRAP

Work in garter st for 13 rows.

Next row (RS) K2tog, knit to last 2 sts, k2tog. [8 sts] Next row (WS) K2tog, knit to last 2 sts, k2tog. [6 sts] Buttonhole row (RS) K2, k2tog, yo, K2.

Work 3 more rows in garter st.

Cast off.

LEFT FRONT STRAP

With WS facing, rejoin Yarn A to rem 10 sts. Complete as for Right Front Strap.

MAKING UP

Join both side seams.

ARMHOLE EDGINGS (BOTH ALIKE)

With RS facing and Yarn A, starting at top of strap, pick up and knit 42 (46: 50) sts around armhole to top of other strap.

Cast off.

FRONT EDGING

With RS facing and Yarn A, starting at top of strap, pick up and knit 40 (42: 44) sts along front neck to top of other strap.

Cast off.

BACK EDGING

With RS facing and Yarn A, starting at top of strap, pick up and knit 32 (34: 36) sts along back neck to top of other strap.

Cast off.

LEG EDGINGS (BOTH ALIKE)

With RS facing and Yarn A, starting at crotch of one leg opening, pick up and knit 36 (38: 40) around leg opening.

Cast off.

FINISHING

Sew buttons onto back straps to correspond with buttonhole­s on front straps.

Place back crotch over front crotch panel and slip stitch into place. Weave in ends and block to measuremen­ts, following any instructio­ns on the ball band.
