Knitting needles:

Size 4½ and 5 mm

Crochet hook:

Size 4½ mm

Tension:

15 sts and 26 row in basic pattern with yarn doubled and 5 mm needles = 10 x 10 cm.

Be sure to get the tension! Change needle size if necessary.

If there is only one number, then it applies to all sizes.

Basic pattern:

Half-brioche st with yarn doubled, needle size 5 mm.

Row 1 (RS) selvedge st, P1, *K1, p1*, repeat from * to *, end with 1 selvedge st

Row 2 (WS row) selvedge st, K1, *slip 1 st purl-wise simultaneo­usly with 1 yo, k1*, repeat from * to *, end with 1 selvedge st

Row 3 (RS row) selvedge st, P1, * K1together with the yo from the previous row, p1*, repeat from * to *, end with 1 selvedge st.

Work row 1–3 once, then repeat row 2 and 3 throughout.

Colour sequence (front and back sections)

Cast on and work 13 rows using 2 strands of corn; work 14 rows using 1 strand of corn + 1 strand mandarine, 14 rows using 2 strands mandarine, 14 rows using 1 strand mandarine + 1 strand coral, 14 rows using 2 strands coral, 14 rows using 1 strand coral + 1 strand light blue, 14 rows using 2 strands light blue, 16 rows using 1 strand light blue + 1 strand fjord, 16 rows using 2 strands fjord, 16 rows using 1 strand fjord + 1 strand petrol, 16 rows using 2 strands petrol.

Brioche border at the front edges For the first and last 3 sts, k the knit st and slip the purl st with the yarn in front of the work.

On all edges that will be sewn together, purl the selvedge st.

BACK

Cast on 77 (85) 93 (101) 109 sts using the 4½mm needles and 2 strands of corn.

In the WS row, divide the sts as follows selvedge st, K1, *P1, k1*, repeat from * to *, end with 1 selvedge st.

Change to the 5mm needles and work in the main pattern following the colour sequence for the front and back sections.

Shoulder shaping when the piece measures 56 cm from the cast-on edge, cast off 4 (4) 5 (5) 6 sts at beginning of each edge; then, in every other following row, cast off at beginning of each edge 3 sts 7x (4 sts 4x and 3 sts 3x) 4 sts 7x (5 sts 4x and 4 sts 3x) 5 sts 7x. When the piece measures 62 cm from the cast-on edge, cast off the remaining 27 sts.

LEFT FRONT

Cast on 49 (53) 57 (61) 65 sts using the 4½mm needles and 2 strands of corn.

In the WS row, divide the sts as follows selvedge st, K1, *P1, k1*, repeat from * to *, end with 1 selvedge st.

Change to the 5mm needles and work in the main pattern following the colour sequence for the front and back sections and working the 3 sts at the left edge of the work as a brioche border.

For the neck opening, when the piece measures 34 cm from the cast-on edge, begin decreases within the front section as follows Work 32 (36) 40 (44) 48 st in the pattern, ktog 3 sts with yarnovers, work the remaining 14 sts (= 2 sts decreased).

Work this decrease in every following 6th row 11x more.

Shoulder shaping when the piece measures 56 cm from the cast-on edge, at the right-hand edge of the work cast off 4 (4) 5 (5) 6 sts; then in every other following row, cast off 3 sts 7x (4 sts 4x and 3 sts 3x) 4 sts 7x (5 sts 4x and 4 sts 3x) 5 sts 7x. Total length = 62 cm.

RIGHT FRONT

Cast on 49 (53) 57 (61) 65 sts using the 4½mm needles and 2 strands of corn.

In the WS row, divide the sts as follows selvedge st, K1, *P1, k1*, repeat from * to *, end with 1 selvedge st.

Change to the 5 mm needles and work in the main pattern following the colour sequence for the front and back sections and working the 3 sts at the right edge of the work as a brioche border.

For the neck opening, when the piece measures 34 cm from the cast-on edge, begin decreases within the front section as follows work 14 sts in the pattern, work a left-leaning dec (knit sts together through back loop) over 3 sts together with their yarnovers, work the remaining 32 (36) 40 (44) 48 sts (= 2 sts decreased).

Work this decrease in every following 6th row 11x more.

For the shoulder shaping, when the piece measures 56 cm from the cast-on edge, at the left-hand edge of the work cast off 4 (4) 5 (5) 6 sts (at beg of row); then cast off in every other following row 3 sts 7x (4 sts 4x and 3 sts 3x) 4 sts 7x (5 sts 4x and 4 sts 3x) 5 sts 7x. Total length = 62 cm.

SLEEVES

Cast on 41 stssing the 4½mm needles and 2 strands of corn.

In the WS row, divide the sts as follows selvedge st, K1, *P1, k1*, repeat from * to *, end with 1 selvedge st.

Change to the 5mm needles and work in the main pattern following the colour sequence for the sleeves for 34 (28) 8 (16) 20 rows. In the following RS row, begin sleeve shaping inc 1 st at each edge; then increase 1 st at each edge every following 10th row 7x (every foll 8th row 9x) every foll 8th row 11x (every following 6th row 13x) every foll 6th row 5x and then every foll 4th row 11x. = 57 (61) 65 (69) 75 sts.

When the piece measures 50 (47.5) 45 (42.5) 40 cm from the cast-on edge, cast off all sts.

Work the second sleeve in the same way.

FINISHING

Dampen and block the pieces according to the measuremen­ts shown in the schematics; allow to dry.

Sew the shoulder seams using the mattress sts and petrol; work according to the pattern measuremen­ts. For the armholes, measure 20 (21.5) 23 (24.5) 26 cm from the shoulder seam on each side and place a marker at each.

Sew on the sleeves slightly stretched between the markers.

Sew the side and sleeve seams using the mattress sts and matching the yarn colours.

Work 1 row of single crochet along the back neckline in petrol, according to the pattern measuremen­ts.
